Totally agree with posts on here regarding the need for a centre back. We need someone who can blend in with Vinny and I dont think there is anybody on the market of similar/better calibre. I reckon Hangeland from Fulham would do a job

He's not better than Lescott . Don't think he is better than Kolo either apart from in the air.Why the hell wwould he come to be 4th choice?

Too injury prone & really can't see Wenger allowing us even near a sensible bid for him

Which player, if sold, will ensure relegation for Blackburn Rovers ?

I'm torn between thinking we should buy someone to ensure we don't drop points or if we should suck it up and move on so we don't get stuck with a defender we dont want after 4 games.

There is only one CB i would go for and it's the same feller Mikhail Chigorin keeps banging on about Neven Subotic.

Top player.

Massive fee required though.

That's bullshit. Lescott is up there in the top 10 centre halves in the league. If you disagree name 10 who are reasonably fit and better on a consistent basis.

He might look shaky with the ball at his feet as Joe Hart is expecting him to be Bobby Moore at the back. That's a lack of options for him to slot it through to in midfield in my book.

Lescott is a good defender. In terms of his quality on the ball, he's not that comfortable but that is not his job really.

Hangeland - we won't get him nor will we go for him. He's 30, and 31 in June - no resale value, only a stop gap and would represent a very short term view of us needing a defender. If we are to sign a centre back either now or in the summer, it should be a top class centre back to partner our other top class centre back, Vincent Kompany. That would allow Savic and Lescott to be squad players and Kolo Toure to leave. Do not see the sense in us signing another back-up for Lescott and Toure at the wrong age of their career.
