Happy New Year you miserable old bastard ;-)

No, this wasn't a blessing in disguise. That's the kind of shit rags come out with. This was corruption without disguise.

I think we'll win the league, but I think we could have won both.

I've said in the other thread; if we'd been playing Liverpool at Anfield twice in the space of a few days, we would be in fucking peril from suspensions & god knows what. In the old days it used to be mainly giving Liverpool pens & offside goals but now they don't put so much pressure on, the easiest way to help them is to send oppo players off. We'll be lucky to get through the LC games without it happening again.

Title is our priority. Rags going to Anfield could help derail them.

the only blessing here is that it forced us to show some fight and team spirit ... which we did. It also may be a blessing in that players who can't be assed were shown up by others that obviously care very much about winning.

Agreed, no loss to United is ever a blessing in disguise. In fact I don't think any loss in a competitive match is ever a blessing.

Carling Cup and Premier League or the Carling Cup and FA Cup?

No Brainer.

What is the consesnus on the Europa league then? Personally I would want to give all in order to win the league. If that means sacrificing less prestigious competitions then so be it. That said, we could still end up with a treble which would be welcome.

Well said kinky. Have always thought Nasri a soft touch and de Jong does not seem the same player since the 1-6 (his face on the subs bench that day spoke volumes.)

We need to go and win The Carling Cup. We have a great opportunity to put another trophy on the board to further quieten down the dicks in the press and at OT. Important we do that to spur us on for the last 3 months of the season. What a boost it would be to already have a trophy in the bank with 3 months to go.

Under normal circumstances, losing doesn't come with blessings, just gut wrenching disappointment. Osccasionally, there are losses that allow a team to learn important lessons about itself and its rivals. Sunday's lessons should prove invaluable as we continue to develop.

We knew our best team was better thsan theirs, now we know a ten man City reserve team can beat them. Great for our confidence. Importantly, the rags know it too and that knowledge will be disastrous for their confidence.
Considering their desperation for money and their need for marketting, the World will also be aware and Sunday will have not have done their cause much good.

I do worry about winning too many trophies and how the high cost of metal polish to keep them nice and shiny will affct our balance sheet with regard to the Fair Play regulations.

Let's not forget the Europa, eh. ;)

Really though, I'm not happy about having been dumped out of the FA as title holders in the third round, even less because it was them who dumped us out. But, if I had to choose between being dumped out this way but winning the title and winning the FA again but losing the title, it would be a no brainer what my choice would be.

Now we actually have even better chances of winning the title than we did before because we have one less competition with a larger squad than the rags.

Yea now we are in the Semi's its worth being bothered!

Europa, I just dont give a shit about, it will only end in tired players and a loss to some shitty Russian team. Unless you win the Europa, its pointless. I don't think we can win it.

The Premier League is what its all about. On the final day we need to ATLEAST be in contention.

The Europa gives us a chance at taking the RAGs out again though. Unless they've bought some European refs as well. After that bullcrap at the weekend I wish we could play them once a week.

now that the draw as been made who do you want to win normally id say liverpool but wouldnt mind if scum get through this one
quarter final day is usually when premier league fixtures take place as well, if we can put pressure on them by winning our games
we could be pts clear and they play catch up.

It is the Profit and Loss Account you need to worry about. They refuse to look at balance sheets as to do so would mean the Scum couldn't possibly qualify...

Nah, bollox - I want the cunts knocked out by Liverpool.

I hate Liverpool, but if they beat the rags, then Sunday's result disappears. Knocking your rivals out of the cup is only significant and historic if its on the way to winning the competition. There's not much gloating to be had when both teams are out.

Also, all they have left is the league and we'll take that away from them.

I hope they win nothing. Its exactly what they deserve.
