It's been a tough start to the new year for us and after yesteday's another disappointment it's time to forget it and focus on the next games.
Finally we have a few days to rest before the next matches (5 days until Wigan and 11 until Spurs)
so now we maybe have time to take couple of days off to charge batteries of the players and get over small knocks (Dave, Edin, Mario..others?).
We're still top of the league, we play Wigan next so we should stay on top of the league when we host Spurs. Remember that Eastlands still is a fortress and we can beat anyone there so I'm expecting 6 points of these two. Best teams available for one game at a time and after Spurs we'll see who's fit enough to face dippers - that tie is Far from over.
Bring it on. Come on City!

yep, an awful lot of knee jerk on here at the mo. yep we have lost 2 big games in a row but thank christ it wasnt in the prem. we are still top. we should pick up 3 points against wigan. and if mancini picks the right team we should be beating spurs at home without kompany. we have the players to do. i just hope they are mentally prepared for it. they dont look confident right now.

It was always going to be an impossibly hard month and we knew it, it would be silly to think we were going to win every game and keep playing as we were earlier on in the campaign. The suspension to Kompany has made things worse, but we will bounce back I am sure. Nothing is over yet, we are still well in the title race, and even if we do finish 2nd, I am certain we will do it next year, no need for the over reactions.

I'm a positive chap this season and agree with most that has been said, but last night was piss poor, and we should be doing better! We played better with 10 men on Sunday than we did with 11 last night and that has to change straight away or even Wigan will spank us!
Spuds are flying, no one can deny it, we need to press on and quickly!

We have to sort out our back 4 & our away form. Imo, the last two home games mean nothing. Last night Bob almost threw the game with his team selection of a knackered Milner, isolated winger & two defensive mids. Joke imo. Against the rags; in all the years I've been watching City, I've NEVER seen a City team kick off a derby & utterly outclass a Utd side like we did. We were caught with a sucker punch & then conned out of Vinny but even some rags I've spoken recon they would have been tonked if we'd had 11 v 11.
We haven't been really truly good away from home for a long time. I recon that's partially down to Silva carrying an injury, which hopefully will be sorted now he's been rested. I fully expect Dzeko to hit the goal trail again soon too & those two factors should sort it imo.
If we signed DeRossi tomorrow, I think we'd win the treble.

i think we have a big problem in the fact that most teams are now happily defending deeply and playing counter attacking style against us. At the moment we are not coping with that. We are struggling to create when faced with the masses camped on the edge of their box and looking for quick counter, WBA and Sunderland did it to great effect. when pool went 1 up even they were at it last night. Its not an easy problem to solve. Even harder to solve when the best players are out.
It is NOW when we will see how good Roberto Mancini is as a manager. A huge couple of weeks ahead for him. I dare to say a defining period. I for one hope he pulls it off.

I just think we are doing well to hang onto top spot in the face of adversity. We've had the rough end of the stick with the Officials since that QPR player fell over his own feet and they scored. Look at the cup draws we've had. Domestically all except Birmingham vs top flight opposition. Europe, again all tough games, even the upcoming Porto tie. Since the start of December there has been little respite or scope for resting our top players, again, due to the number of top teams we've had to play. The rags and spuds have had their best ever starts to the season and yet we are still top. We come out on top this season and it can only get easier. Glass still half full for me.

A win at Wigan is essential to stop the bleeding.
In addition last night highlighted that Savic is just not up to it as a C-Half in really big games. Given that Kolarov defends about as well as Chris Foy refs, the back 4 for the next 3 games should be set in stone
Zabba
Micah
Lescott
Clichy
Do not piss around with it, do not tinker with it, leave it as that. Its 3 games in the next 14 days - not too taxing.

I'm going to make bold prediction and say we are still going through.

With Silva 100% and Mario in a good mood I may agree, but that is asking a lot! lol

a win v wigan will boost confidence we could then beat spurs and if arsenal do rags we would be 6pts clear of both of them.
then the 2nd leg will look a lot different, also dippers have got the cup tie with rags 3or 4 days later so their gonna have to do some re jigging of their side. notice carragher on last night as sub must be getting gametime into him. i would be surprised if rags and pool come out of that tie without casualties. things change so quickly us level on pts with scum, now 3 in front during are heaviest run of fixtures. so onwards an upwards as the thread says.

Lacklusture and half hearted describe last night. I can take losing, even at home but I can't accept the lack of effort and commitment.

i think kenny dogleish dropped a massive bollock last night - that's probably the worst we'll play all season, and for him to go all defensive at 1-0 will (hopefully) come back to haunt him.
goaters - that would be my back 4 - but then i thought, and still do think, we need another striker and another centre half, and quickly.

I'd agree with you on that as well.

The bottom line is, and some teams are beginning to realise this...UNITED ARE CRAP, they can't defend and have no midfield, NOW IS THE TIME FOR US. The Liverpool first half was not up to our standard, but other than that we are still up there and doing okay. The previous results that have gone against us are not a reflection of how we peformed.....Wigan will pay, I tell ya!!
