"Joint Top"

Some rags seem to be getting giddy about being "joint top". I don't recall them thinking they were joint third before today's game?

Now, if only there was some method of separating teams on equal points...

You mean like a large section of our fans claiming we were joint second last season.

How nice is it to see the table knowing we've not even played.

Sky actually said that United would go top if they win then changed it to joint for Spurs.

BBC Radio ( world service) summary after the game introduced the football from today with the statement "Manchester United go Joint top" , did they really score so many goals today ?

Sounds like it would have been Spurs if they'd managed to win today instead of draw. Shame.

cheers

That kind if shite would never have happened 20 years ago on Radio 2 Football. Perter Jones and Bryon Butler would have, classily, told therm to fuck off with their inept research. There was a time, not long ago, when we had authoritative, knowledgeable football correspondents. But that was then.

Let them sneer. If not this year, then next. One day soon we will be victorious, surveying the battlefield, viewing with humble pity the broken, bloody bodies of our defeated foes.

Just now watching motd. Why couldn't Lineker simply say "go level on points with Man City at the top" , surely this is what he means with "joint top" , which is clearly not precise enough at this level.

Btw was Knight paid to give that penalty away. He should be fired for that stupid gift for united. I reckon Wellbeck would have missed if he got a shot in.

We're only top alphabetically, it would seem.

The welbeck one was a penalty but why wasn't it a sending off? How clear a goal scoring opportunity is there than three yards out? Also, how come scholes 'tackle' just raised a laugh? Oh that's right everyone knows he can't tackle therefore it doesn't matter who he maims.

Yet yakubu got a red card (and rightly so) for a similar challenge on murphy. The inconsistency in refereeing decisions is ridiculous

I was talking about this with some mates when we were watching the game yesterday. Way I saw it was that it was not a clear scoring opportunity, he was on the edge of the 6 yard box far right and...IMO....not even in control of the ball which had run away from him.

I think the ref got it right to be honest
