de Jong

Hurts me to say it, and I'm not basing it on tonights 'give the ball away with every pass' performance but I really won't miss him when he's gone in the summer.

When we first signed him I, and I think 99% of City fans, loved him from the first minute he wore a City shirt. And last season I thought he improved a hell of a lot with his forward play and passing forward. But it seems like he's gone totally backwards. And he's gone from one of the first names on the team sheet to one of the first names to warm the bench in my opinion.

Any team is always going to need that hard tackling midfielder, who when their backs are against the wall he comes out fighting and drags the team up with him. But the fact is de Jong doesn't seem to be that player. You would have thought with Kompany out and the team needing a real leader he'd be it. People were even suggesting he take the captain role from Tevez before Vincent last season.

I hope I'm wrong and from now until the end of the season he puts in one hell of a shift because I'd love nothing more than de Jong to end his career at City and win us some major silverware!

He has gone from being a holding boring slow the play down defensive midfielder to a sack of shit who constantly gives the ball away or does his bets impression of a cardboard cut out in front of a player with a ball.

He can do one as far as I'm concerned..complete liability.

That's totally it! Like he knows he's not in Bobby's plans or something already?

Rather harsh, but agreed maybe surplus to requirements moving forward.

I'm glad he was there. The midfield had gone to fucking pieces. Some of Silva's loss of ball was worse imo. Tonight isn't the night to be singling out Nige for doing what the whole team was doing all game.

Good point.

He came on because the midfield would not show for the defence leading to long ball after long ball. 2nd half Milner and Barry went missing!

His form isn't as good as it was when he was a regular starter. It happens. It's hard for a player sometimes, to play a bit part role and maintain optimum form. People over react a lot.

I was foaming a bit when he was passing to Wigan, but I reckon we'll miss him if he goes.

I wonder where he will go to, if he leaves in the summer - would he fit into the Spanish League, or would that be too much for him ??

Depending where he goes (QPR even ???), it'll be interesting to see what sort of fee he would command.

I think we should keep him. Never hurts to have the former worlds-best-defensive-mid on the pitch or bench for when we need him to break some legs.

Wasnt great tonight but he is quality and we should definitely keep him unless we get a better player for that role

To be fair the whole midfield was pretty shit tonight, Silva included. De Jong's inadequacies tend to get highlighted as he wasn't on the pitch that long yet made as many mistakes as the others albeit in a shorter period of time.

I thought he helped in the main tonight.
Barry was woeful and Milner not much better.
Why do we have to arse about trying to kill time rather go forward and finish off a team that was on the ropes and reeling at one point. Oh and Nasri is officially a scaredy baby, French, Arsenal style shithouse.

He wasn't even average let alone great !! and that's how he has been since he came back from his injury.,,fast becoming a liability.

In on one. Clearly wasn't calamitous but none of the midfield played particularly well. Barry and Milner have been great this season but have had a poor couple of games. Nasri's been worse.

Still, 3 points away from home.

Which was the reason why I put 'I'm not basing this on tonight'.......
