Not quite understanding the geographic location of this new stadium, why does either West Ham or Spurs want this facility? it doesn't seem to make sense to me but i'm sure i'm missing something about the location that speaks to either set of fans.

Educate me please?

cheers

How do you mean? They want it because most clubs want a shiny new stadia, especially on the cheap.

Upton Park is only a few miles from the Olympic Stadium, White Heart Lane is about 9 miles away. It doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me that both clubs would want it, but I don't really understand thee structure of London suburbs very well.

okay...i guess then it makes sense more for West Ham. Of course the shiny new stadium story resonates, but i thought it was far enough from either clubs home base of fans that, given London, it might be more in another smaller London clubs area of fanbase density.

Maybe i'm being too simplistic about it, but i thought, incorrectly it seems, that it was more neutral in location for either club.

Orient are closest club, spurs are using this as a way to get London to stump up more subsidy for their local north London development as it will go to the hammers anyway.

can't please you fuclers can i?

wrt the post about Orient being the closest club...that was the crux of my question. In essence, in America, i cannot imagine a sports club vying for a stadium closer to a rival, albeit one in a different league but football is different, for any other reason than to cockblock the process and fuck about with public money or their rivals ability to have a shiny new stadium, etc...hence my questions about West Ham and Spurs.

Spurs wanted it because their council is trying to sting them for Tube and other public transport links before allowing then permission to develope WHL ... London Councils in general suck ass

You're right. West Ham are the only ones who want it in earnest. Orient are protesting that WHU are going to push them further into obscurity by stepping on their toes, whilst Spurs are unhappy about a local and professional rival getting a free peg-up. Most of the Spurs board would have the stadium, none of their fans would. As far as I can tell, WHU fans are about 50/50. I hope Walmai reads this so he can clear it up.

Also, LookMum, it's a stadium or some stadia/stadiums. I wouldn't have mentioned it were it anyone else. OK, maybe Slim, but that's it.
