Boateng v Savic

Just wanted to check opinions of whether it was the right move to shift Boateng and replace with Savic. Forget that we made a profit on Boateng. Who is the better player? The better prospect?

Boateng is holding down a place for Bayern so it has to be him at present but ideally, you'd want Savic's head on Boateng's body. Then you'd have a player.

Boateng is a shithouse, otherwise he'd be absolutely fantastic. Savic has none of Boateng's ability but is obviously a much better character who would throw himself into tackles/headers & be unstoppable if he had Boatengs athleticism & pace.

Watched MOTD last night Defoe kippered him, All players make a mistake he got nailed on one and Defoe got him out of jail with the miss, Ned has to be a better option, IMHO. Wish Savic well however he is not ready for anything more than a squad place.

totally agree. ned is better and he is not in managers plans so neither for me! Ship him out and get the young belgian lad of ajax and him lescott toure and vinny as four centre backs, easy!

I thought he handled Defoe very well until that fucking awful header and then his game went to shit.

The rags have it with De Gea, there is a goalkeeper in there, however if they want to win the league he has been dropped no questions gone. I think the same here, Ned is going to be rusty and his passing is poor however he is quick and would have caught Defoe offside all day Sunday, Savic is a little to keen to do his own thing which will cost you big time. Gael told to stop dropping off 1st half he still did it and he would be dropped if we lost so why persist with it Gerrard, will stitch him him up with a dive .

I've been thinking about this & there must be something our scouts saw in Savic that we haven't seen so far though.

I watched him for Montenegro & he was worse than he has been for City, he stank the fucking place out. I've criticised him for his City performances but most of the time I'm actually holding back from how bad I think he's been when I've really watched him in detail. We wouldn't have signed him, if this is all he is capable of, surely ? There must be something more to him.

Perhaps the fact that he's been so fucking useless & dropped so many bollocks so early in his career, will actually be a turning point for the future; the worst is over & he can only get better ? He can't play in many bigger games & drop many worse, more catastrophic bollocks than v Spurs but he still finished a winner. So much of football is in the mind, he may actually become a really strong character because of being thrown in & end up a bit of a big bolloxed, chest out, hero in the future. (I hope)

Ted I am not challenging you mate, Ned is a better player anyone can see that he is quicker and very cute with his power, give him a run and we could have what we have with Micah, an athlete Savic can wait mate this is biz end and sorry no time for RM to ignore the warning signs because that twat Gerrard will con his way to Wembley if Savic farts near him...

I would have played Micah there, then Ned, then savic if both were injured but long term unfortunately Ned will never be good enough in the air to play CB regularly. That was proven on many occasions when he played there but spectacularly at Spurs for the Hughes sacking game, when aerially he made Savic look like Tony Adams.

The only issue i see holding savic back from being a top center back is his height, i think he will make a very decent rightback.

When he moved over to right back for Montenegro v England, they went from being a comedy pub team, to dominating the game, & Savic put in one of the best crosses you could ever see, for their goal.

Savic is work in progress. He will develop with City and his qualities will come to the fore as a modern, fast, good on the ball centre back suited to our style.

I had high expectations of Boeteng but he failed to deliver which is why we went with Savic. The role of Boeteng at Bayern is different to that expected at the City prject which is looking to the future not just the present.

I don't think Boateng would have been as bad as Savic over the past few games.

Well Boateng was pretty poor in this league, but remember he kicked up a right fuss to go, so it wasn't that Mancini wanted to replace him.
