Appeal - Why not?

Postby MSG77 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:18 pm

Why would we not appeal for Balo? I don't get it.

Here are the next 4 after tonight (Team, H/A, Table, For, Against, GD)

Everton A 14th 22F 26A -4
Fulham H 12th 28F 31A -3
Villa A 11th 26F 29A -3
Blackburn H 18th 33F 45A -12

Not a team in the top half, no one with a positive GD. Its not exactly a run like the Rags have upcoming.

Even if the appeal were to be deemed frivolous (which it shouldn't but probably will) the next game would either be the CC Final against Cardiff City or home against Bolton (17th 28F 47A -19).

Isn't it better to have Balo available tonight in case Dzeko is just useless and win the game to get to the final against a non-prem team? Does that list of upcoming game really scare anyone? Should we have a ton of trouble in those games even without Mario?

I just don't get it if they don't appeal. It would show that we are sticking up for our player who is being unfairly attacked quite a bit lately. If the appeal gets rejected and given 5 games it will just go to show how City are being attacked and might actually bring more attention to how we are not getting a fair go right now.

Isn't losing Balo for those games worth the risk?

Totally agree, we should appeal and then maybe the FA will tire of throwing the book at us every couple of weeks

Would be nice to show that we actually back the player and believe him when he says he didn't mean it also.

This is honestly the biggest worry I think.

We appeal. He plays. Scum scousers racial abuse him or somthing. He takes off his boot and beats someone over the head with it.

Totally plausible and we won't be seeing him until May at least.

If he would be considered a key figure to get us though tonight's match I think they would appeal. Is he though?

From BBC Website:

Football Association chairman David Bernstein has backed Howard Webb following Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli's violent conduct charge.

Referee Webb was accused by Balotell's agent Mino Raiola of acting like a "coward" after Sunday's win over Spurs.

But Bernstein insists: "His ability and integrity are beyond question."

Is this the guy some here thought will defend City !!!

Most likely not. Problem with Mario is that he's too mercurial. It's either world class striker, world class nut case, or totally uninspired.
You don't know what you will get until he's on the pitch.

I keep meaning to look, but how many times this season have we seen the world class striker? ( and I don't count scoring from penalties)

Not many. There're glimpses every now and then, but that's it. Totally uninspired seems to be his most common mood, with world class nut case as runners up.

The beyond question is the part that scares me. Surely we have the right to question any ref's ability, and if the ability is true, they should be able to stand up to the questioning. Saying things like you can't even question them stinks to high heaven

The right decision.

The league is the priority and it would have been turned down and perhaps increased.

Would you have preferred Dzeko to have taken that penalty on Sunday? He's the best penalty taker we've had since Elano and I think he's better than him.

If we have a similar situation last game of the season with a spot kick against QPR in the 4th minute of injury time to win us the title, there's no one at City, probably no one in the league, I'd prefer to be taking it than Mario. No idea what he'll get up to between now and then, but at that moment, he's one of the best in the world.
