How many times have we (and especially older contributors) seen guidelines for referees introduced which lasted a few weeks or months? Dozens of times, if not hundreds. Going in two-footed might be punished for a while, but then things will get lax over a period of time and we'll end up being back where we are now. It's a repeating cycle which ends up being nothing more than a fad and a knee jerk reaction.

Exactly, just like the 'Respect' campaign, how many times do we see players mobbing the refs ? Usually , in every United game the Ref gets mobbed. Arsenal,Scouse 1 and Chelsea do this too. They are not the only ones though.
I also think the handshake crap at the beginning of the game should be scrapped.
Why on earth would I want to shake the hand of that despicable runt Wayne Rooney ?

Did the git say anything about considering such factors as 'Age' , speed of the player ?
I mean how can that slow , old ginger haired retiree from United get away with kicking a player in the stomach ?
Perhaps it's because his legs are shot, he's out of touch, slow and not match fit ?
It's fatuous and shows tha arrogance of the man ( Fergie), to even think he should make such statements.
He sends his players out to kick and maim other footballers and thinks that now the refs should do something ?
His players are not fit enough and now , just before they get some really tough games he comes out with this garbage !

The following will not be subject to the guidlines.
Chelsea players
Manchester United Players
Liverpool Players
Spurs players
We can also confirm any Manchester City player found to be looking at the match officials in a manner we feel is dodgy will be suspended for 4 games. Decisions against Manchester City are made in accordance with our special arrangements with
Sir Alex Ferguson MBE.
We can also confirm we will be making examples of any player not from Engerland as we know this the way forward for the game in out Country.
We hope to be presentingManchester United with the FA Premiership Trophy. at a date to be confirmed please look out for times and dates.
Thanks the FA

Lazy bastards. I am starting to think that the super league people have been talking about is a good idea just for a fucking fresh start away from this kind of lazy bullshit.

This!
They don't even know what a two footed tackle is. What they are doing is heading towards a game where any kind of challenge on the ground will be a red card.

Agree with you Ted, however, I'm happy with the clarification, even if it's the wrong one. The rule is now clarified and therefore I expect anyone doing it to be sent off. If the ref somehow misses it, I expect the FA to subsequently charge the player. Everyone now knows where they stand, including the City players.
Let's see how long we go before a clear red card challenge isn't carded or picked up by the FA afterwards. I'll go for sometime tomorrow when Scholes/Gerrard/Shrek/Johnson/Wellbeck/Wio dive in on some dirty foreigner.
