Gareth Barry Again

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Gareth Barry Again

The last time I criticised him for turning his back on Bales shot, thereby gifting them a goal, I got slaughtered here
(I don't think one person here agreed with me, for what was a valid criticism, irrespective of performance)

He's done it again tonight
Mancini needs to sort this nonsense out, and fast!

That's because your criticism of him for the Bale goal had zero validity.

He was wank tonight though, can't argue with that.

Defenders, as Barry was trained at being, are taught NEVER to turn their back on a shot!
You clearly have never been a defender

Gareth Barry was one of the best players against Spurs as he has been for a good majority of the games this season. He could have had a chest the size of Dolly Parton and he wouldn't have got in the way of Bale's shot, turning his back had fuck all to do with that shot going in.

He was complete shite tonight and I can't argue with any criticism he receives.

You clearly have never been in the habit of making worthwhile points.

Brilliant.

I particularly like the way you've enlarged the font and made it bold, great way to get your well structured and excellent argument across.

I've praised Barry all season. Tonight he was a disgrace at both ends of the pitch. It seemed like his arse had gone. He was one of our biggest problems imo.

The whole team was poor apart from Clichy. I can't really justify singling out Barry as he wasn't any worse than half a dozen others tonight.

Looked uncomfortable playing with Nasri in the middle I thought. Received and gave some poor passes. Looked unfit.

Milner was just as bad and Nasri wasnt much better to put his performance into perspective.

The back turn for this one wasnt as bad as the Bale one, IMO

Agreed; it wasn't as bad
Still; lets hope if enough people point them out to him he'll put his balls on the line, next time!

The initial point of this post is perfectly valid. What do Rugby players do when an opponent prepares to kick ? (apart form a penalty shot at goal ?) Do they turn away and present their arses to the ball like Robby Fowler did to Gareth le Saux ?A Rubgy ball is roughly the same size/wieght as a football and probably flying faster because it's more aerodynamic , so players in general , not just BArry need to nad up and face it . I do when I play - I've even scored a couple that way .

Karate training is the answer - get a 7th Dan Sensei in for a couple of sessions a week of abdominal and mental(Ki) conditioning.

You wouldn't see Bruce / Samuraii / the SAS flinching away from shots . . .

When I saw it was Barry who deflected the ball by turning his back on the shot I thought of the comment re Bale's shot.
More pertinently, Barry created more for Everton than he did for us last night. I thought he was shocking at Wigan and even worse tonight. He runs like he is wading through treacle.

Put your head down, cover the applebag and stay in front of the shot to prevent deflections. Thats what I was taught when I was 9. Apparently Barry has lost that concept...or he is a bit of a Mary.

Usually one of our most consistent players but had a stinker last night in all facets. Wa caught in possession more often than Worrall-Thompson and yet mysteriously stayed on with Milner dragged off instead - why?

A rest on saturday may be required in a game where we could go with De Jong and Milner in front of the back 4, or maybe Nigel Pivaro or whatever he's called will get a game. So long as we win on saturday I dont give a f**k who plays.
