the penalty

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

the penalty

Postby Moonchesteri » Sat Feb 04, 2012 6:14 pm

Browsing through the match day thread I noticed a few comments claiming it was lightly given or so.. and that the other penalty claims were more worthy of the first one..
And the commentator here was basically taking the piss out of AJ for that which made my blood boil

Imo it was a very clear penalty. If you look at the slpw motion of the foul you can see how Baird clips and then drags AJs leg for a feet or so. imo that was as blatant peno as the one we didn't get at Chelsea!

But I will watch it again at HT..maybe I missed something

As I said in the MD Thread, if it was given against us I'd be fuming!
Looked to me like AJ left his leg in there.

There was no malice, Johnson wouldn't have got the ball, and it wasn't an intentional foul. However, it was a nailed-on penalty, imho.

First claim: penalty, from one angle you can see Johnsons leg not bist being impeded but dragged away from under him.

Second: no chance, close to a yellow

Third: 1000% it would have been given if we did not get first. As I said in thread, utd would have gotten this one, they got two half as clear vs stoke.

Looked to me like AJ left his leg in. Just my opinion though. Don't want to get called a 'cunt' or anything by someone who disagrees with me on here ;)

I don't give a fuck though by the way. We've had enough shit over the past few weeks for me to care less if AJ stamped on the left backs head.

Imho, i really hope the first pen, well the only one so far, wasen't a good decision made by Dean. Let them have some of their own medicine and see how every game the ref takes a piss on your whole work.

PS: The pen at Silva was clear as day.

Very soft penalty, these day's if the referees don't start allowing more aggressive challenges the fans will stop coming.
There like a bunch of fairies these days footballers.

The Silva one was nailed on, but if you ignore the 2nd shout that was pretty poor I'd say Mike Dean was trying to even it out for any doubt he had about the 1st.

Had it been 1-1 and 80 mins in I think he'd have had to give it.
Tracking back is overrated.

Just saw the aftermatch interview with AJ and his reaction says he knows he dived - really thought it was legit when I saw it during the game though - ah well f. you Fulham we deserve a break finally.

Just watching the several replays on TV now. It is a dive. I would have been raging if that was given against us.

It's a defo dive no doubt about it, he puts his leg back in to catch his foot and go down, had one like this gone against us we would be livid. They have, so just take it as payback from the times where pens have been unjust. Silva's was defo though that should have stood.

Fulham player said something to Johnson as he was being subbed, and i don't think he was asking if he knew any good pubs in Manchester. More likely to have been "went over easy didn't you, like you've done a few times before?"
