Manager of the season

A managers job is to maximize the output from what he has to work with. So a manager with a crap squad that does crap delivers as expected. Same with a a great squad, no magical merit to take a squad with top, top players to the top 4.
So if we split a managers results into three categories: Bad results, expected results and great results. And we split squads into the same categories.
So lets say we have a great squad and the results have been great that means Mancinis job has been by using the same three categories, expected. The same can be said of Mick McCarthy who has a bad squad and have had bad results.
Based on that I want to put forth the following suggestion:
Manager of the season has to be Alan Pardew? An owner who sells all your biggest stars, you buy next to nothing. Played in the championship not too long ago and you are still fighting for top four. He has gotten great results with a bad squad.
Cannot think of another manager having done so much with so little, ever in the PL.
thoughts?

it's 3/5 of the way through the season. Pardew's done wonders for sure, but if Bobby wins the league he walks with it no questions asked.
cheers

Realise that for now it is just speculation as the season is not over, but I'd say that even if we win the league, if Newcastle get a top six finish I'd say Pardew has done better considering the squads.

Nice question Fesan.
Mancini won't get it even if we end up winning it by 100 points and 10 clear of second place as Baconface is more likely to get it as its his 25th anniversary. Pardew should certainly be in with a shout based on the results/squad to date.

They cannot seriously give it to Ferguson if he does not win the league, a cup or CL... If they do then that is the nail in the coffin for the FA's renomé. I mean come on!
See where you are coming from though! But I think that is one too far even for them.

Bacon for Manager of the year, Scholes for Sports personality of the year, Giggs for player of the season ... City to win the minor matter of the league title ... Thats my prediction

I don't think Newcastle have a bad squad. Cabaye was a star in France, the Dembas had very decent strike rates in Germany, Santon was a big talent in Italy, dito HBA in France, Coloccini is very underrated...
Their first 11 isn't far off Liverpool's imo. They belong into the top 10 easy.
Pardew does deserve credit for getting them to perform tho, no question. I don't know how much influence he has on the transfer dealings, but even if Carr was the one scouting these players, the decision has to be made by the manager surely, so credit for that as well.
If they end up 7th it would be a decent season for them. If they somehow snatch 5th or even 4th, it would be amazing, but it would also mean that Wenger &/or AVB did a terrible job.

Shame if it was Carr who found them all as he was one of our scouts a bit back - mind there's a family link with the toon & you can't hold it against anyone - agreed though based on the squad & lack of expenditure & pre-season predictions, if the toon finish top 5 or sneak a CL place (now that would be funny) then Pardew deserves it

Got to be Bacon now after that fantastic comeback today. A side has never come back from 3-0 down before you know.

It's just got be 'Arry.
Spurs play the best football in the league, have scored over 500 goals already this season and in Gareth Bale, have a player as good as Messi.

Based on results, Pardew is a great shout. But he won't get it because Bacon or, if we win the league, Mancini will get it.

One of Pardew, Lambert, and Rodgers deserve it currently
Interms of under performers, AVB, Dalgleish, Mcleish, Jol, and probably the biggest fall from grace, Coyle at Bolton
