Merciless Merson warms to his theme as the preview turns into a full scale attack. Charlie sprays the studio with haggis crumbs and Thomo & Robbie provide Dipperland balance.
Stelling stokes the fires and everyone has a jolly good time.

When did we get a hiding at Anfield? Oh, last season! Big Nose isn't biased, of course. He might as well have said "Ferguson lost at Anfield again, just like he did years ago. Will he never learn?" Muppet.

Haha, Merson got a late rush from whatever he's on. "If they don't win it this year they'll never win it!" Amazing drugs, they seem to kick in completely randomly.

Pinocchio Thompson is such a fucking twat. It was obvious to everyone that after the defeat to Everton Mancini tried to deflect the attention, and thus take the pressure off his players by saying that he hadn't prepared properly for the match and had underestimated Everton. The players underperformed on the night and that is why we lost, yet Big Nose thinks that Mancini was telling the truth in his post-match interview. He says that Mancini shouldn't have said what he did in public but should have said it to the players behind closed doors and publicly he should have bollocked them. That's why you have had such a successful career in football management haven't you Thompson? You can bet Mancini gave the players a right bollocking in private but it'd be bad management to have a go at them in public which is why he took the blame for the defeat.

the interesting part about their criticism of Manici is, guess fuclin what, they are talking about Mancini, which is what Roberto wanted to accomplish.

The media is so fucking starved for salacious tidbits that they cannot resist sticking their tiny little cock in a gloryhole with no concern for what's on the other side.

Cheers

Well I love the programme. If you dont suffer from City paranoitus these guys are pretty entertaining, though RF is as dim as is to be expected. However, their take on Mancini's "admission" was feckin laughable. My missus said "are they thick or something?" In this case, yes.

It's funny them saying that Mancini looks insecure and under pressure.... I couldn't find 2 more fitting descriptions of the people in that clip. The easiest way to tell when someone is insecure with themselves is when they resort to mostly cutting down others. They all look completely, 100% panicked and scared that Man City is going to eclipse all their average teams for years to come

He's managing a team that is top of the league. They're in a studio talking about a manager who is managing a team that is top of the league.

Enough said.

Did Mancini's tactic work? I didn't hear too much slating of the team.

The only way to shut them up (the media a a whole) is to win things and play good football and I think in that order.

Even then there will be plenty of "my granny could win the title if she had that much money to spend" but if we continue to win things we will slowly start to get real credit. And it wont be from everyone. That tosser on TShite who openly says he hates City because of all the money they have will never cease to criticise but who cares.

At the start the hope of so many was that it's alright having a bottomless pit of money but the team still needs to gel so the "get at City" approach has had to evolve week by week.

Spot on Doug.

Case in point, since 2008 we were told "You cant buy success" over and over. Then when we won the FA Cup and cracked the Champs Lge club we were told "You've only bought success."

Winning the league this year will plonk us front and centre; haters are still gonna hate but if us winning causes any unease and consternation for the likes of Merson, Mark Saggers et la, then all the better.

I think that he has missed the main point, all fans want their team to end up as high as possible on the table at the end of the season and we did end up 3rd.

That being said for a neutral I see his point. BUT with that attitude he'd better been creaming his pants in every broadcast for the first 10 weeks of the season over our performance!

City are in a lose lose situation as regards the UK media. IMO most of us just want to see a reasoned, balanced viewpoint. If someone decides to wax lyrical about how good a job Dalglish is doing (i know, but some have) then this must surely be just a taster for glowing tributes for Mancini!...the fact that Mancini gets grudging praise at times merely highlights the paucity of most commentators. They either have no self regulation, self awareness or merely dont care about sounding like a hypocrite. Yes, Merson is consistent...consistently ignorant. Consistently pissed while driving also.

Is there any footage of Fat-Faced Sweaty Drug Addict sharing his thoughts after a big City win? I'm finding these postmortems after City defeats slightly dispiriting. Mind you, those clips would have to have been recorded on a Saturday afternoon for them to exist at all, and seeing we never seem to play on Saturday afternoons such videos might take some finding.

I'm otherwise engaged after City matches, usually fighting my way past the speed cameras in Openshaw, but the point made about the peculiar hatred of City by Mark Saggers on Talksport is well made.

Merson re Mancini's post Toffee chew "When you're under pressure you do silly things, you say silly things"(from original clip)

WOW. 'Say silly things'?!?!?! Merson must be under the most cataclysmic of pressures, every time he opens his mouth, if that's the case.

He really does manage to make the others look super-intelligent (in relative terms obviously). I suspect that's why he's there.
