Manchester United 2 Manchester City 4
Bunn 48 mins
Assulin 64mins
Elabdellaoui 69 mins
Hiwula 90 mins
An earlier-than-promised update, prompted by the Reds taking the lead through Jesse Lingard on 15 minutes, after a mix-up between City keeper Eirik Johansen and a defender when trying to deal with Will Keane's long ball. Davide Petrucci almost made it 2-0 with a free-kick curled just wide of the left-hand post. (AM)
We'd barely restarted when the referee pointed to the spot for handball against Reds centre-back Michael Keane. Harry Bunn - son of Paul Scholes' football idol Frankie Bunn - stepped up for City and scored on the rebound after Tomasz Kuszcak saved the initial penalty with his legs
The Reds are back in front through Larnell Cole after 59 minutes. It was a wonderful team goal, albeit one that was started by Will Keane's tremendous driving run, down the left and then cutting inside to the edge of the box to lay the ball off for King. The latter squared it unselfishly across goal and Cole tapped home. City torn apart, again .
The Blues have levelled again, this time from open play through Assulin after good wing-play from Elabdellaoui. This game could well go to extra-time and penalties.
Best goal of the lot has given the visitors the lead. A corner on the left was pulled back to the edge of the area and City's Elabdellaoui blasted a rising shot over a ruck of players in the box and beyond Kuszczak. Now I do want extra-time... (AM)
Kuszczak; Vermijl, M Keane, Fornasier, Fryers; L Cole, Thorpe, Petrucci; King, W Keane, Lingard. Subs: Sutherland, Massacci, Brown, Rafael Leao, Giverin. (AB)
Johansen, Wabara, Helan, Elabdellaoui, Tse, Rekik, Roman, Evans, Bunn, Suarez, Scapuzzi
I didn't get to this one but here's the early summary report.By all accounts Motm was Rekik.
Great win for the boys

I've only seen the snatches of him but just looking at Rekik....I dunno....he looks like a kid who'll turn out to be pure mustard. I have a feeling...based on fuck all bar aesthetics and a whim

I've seen quite a bit in training and a few games and if he isnt the business I would be amazed. I think the club know it as well.

Is that the real Mario Balotelli?
On topic, well done to the young guns, excellent news. Shame Veseli wasn't there, they could've rubbed his Red-Nose in it.

I saw the last 15 mins & the goals on a stream from SCUMTV ( Crerand looked like his dog had been run over hahahahaha ) & just in that bit Rekik looked absolute class on several occasions both defensively & with the ball. From the 1st second I saw him pre season I thought he looked absolutely on another planet to Savic, although not ready for the 1st team. I think we really have something to work with there. Let's not rush him though.
Showed a good turn of pace to get in a last ditch interception as the lino allowed the rag twats their opportunity to try & get a blatantly offside last minute equaliser thus giving their striker a two yard start behind our defence. Ridiculous.
Hiwula got the last goal instead, & what a calm finish that was. Ha.
City looked pretty good when defending & breaking in that last session. Impressive.

Is this the Manchester or Lancashire Senior Cup?
Also, question; on Wikipedia, it says City have won the Manchester Cup 21 times, but only lists 4 of them (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Senior_Cup). Anyone know where the dates of the others can be found?

The Manchester version. Apparently we had this guy playing for us in the 1st half:
Andongcho Matthew Mbuta ,a senior Cameroon International who currently plays for Romanian Liga 1 with Dinamo Bucureşti
He has previously been at Crystal Palace Baltimore and New York Red Bulls, as well as having trials for Arsenal and West Ham United
Born December 21st 1985
Senior international at 16! I will have to look out for him.

According to the official site he replaced Roman at half time.
He's also 26 years old & made his debut for Cameroon only a year ago.
Bloody hell, Doug! Now I don't know whether I should trust your training reports anymore. ;)

1)...1891 (as Ardwick) 2)...1892 (as Ardwick)
3)...1901, 4)...1903 (joint with Bury), 5)...1907, 6)...1911, 7)...1928, 8)...1929, 9)...1932, 10)...1933, 11)...1949, 12)...2001, 13)...2005, 14)...2007, 15)...2010.
Hope that helps you Andrew. Forget the Wiki total of 21, it's wrong.
In its early years, it was quite a prize to win but over the years it became severely devalued. There was no competition during WW1and WW2. City pulled out of the competition altogether in 1965 and there was no competition at all in 1966 and 1967 The competition went out of existance between 1980 and 1998, after which it became a reserve team competition.

I'm not one for promoting youngsters un-necessarily, as most of the 'club's future' (all clubs) usually end up in Div 2. But I really would like to see Rekik get some first team time.
