Yaya Hits Back At Rooney

Postby Beefymcfc » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:07 am

Doing the morning rounds I came across this. Seems Shrek has been gobbing off and Yaya felt the need to show his class.

Manchester City's Yaya Toure hits back at Wayne Rooney: Hopefully he won't be laughing at the end of the season

The Ivory Coast international has struck back after the Manchester United striker poked fun at the 28-year-old following his country's Africa Cup of Nations final defeat to Zambia

used the social networking site to poke fun at the two Ivory Coast internationals after they lost the Africa Cup of Nations final to Zambia last week.

Toure told the Sunday Mirror: “If Rooney thought Ivory Coast losing was funny then that’s up to him. I like Rooney. He is a great player.

“He will know a lot of the Ivory Coast players like me, Kolo, [Cheick] Tiote and [Didier] Drogba so he’ll have an opinion.

“I think many people believed Ivory Coast would win. Even my friends said to me that they thought it was impossible that we would lose. All I can say is that losing in the African Nations has made my determination to win the Premier League even bigger.

“Hopefully at the end of the season it will be me laughing and not Rooney. That would be good.”

Zambia emerged victorious on penalties after the Africa Cup of Nations final remained goalless after 90 minutes and extra time, with Didier Drogba missing from the spot in normal time.

The thing for me, when you read some of those quotes, is how a pillock like Rooney can not only stir things up between the clubs but stir things up for the country. There are a lot of different African nations posting on that board, probably on many boards, that are not happy with Rooney's comments and see England as being arrogant and insulting. He makes us all look like twats!

Oh, I also liked the way he slipped the big lads into his statement, leaving Gervinho out, in a way to say 'We'll be seeing you'. Very subtle.

Reading through other stuff I notice that Yaya is contemplating retiring from international football and the part about City just shows what we now mean to him. These latest quotes just make me think he is pure class and it's a pleasure to have him playing in the Blue shirt.

Toure considering international future

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed that he is contemplating his future with Ivory Coast.

The 28-year-old was part of the side that lost in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations last weekend on penalties to Zambia.

And with the tournament set to be played again next January, the player says he is unsure whether or not he would like to continue representing his country.

"We will see whether I carry on," Toure told the Sunday Mirror.

"I have to think about what is best for me, for my club and for my country. I love playing for Ivory Coast so it is not an easy thing to think about."

"Maybe if we had won against Zambia things would have been easier for me. The disappointment is big at the moment so I will wait until I have a clear mind before deciding what to do."

"The African Nations is being played again next year and because we have lost the final it is an emotional time for us all."

"But a decision about playing for Ivory Coast has to be made. I will take my time and think about things, about what I will do."

Toure said the defeat in Gabon last week has made him more determined to lift the Premier League title with City in May.

"City are my club. I have a duty to them because I am a professional, but I also needed to play for my country," he said.

"I did my duty, but I didn't like being away from my City at such an important stage of the season."

"I really wanted to play against United in the FA Cup but could not get permission to be there."

"When I left we were in the two cups. When I came back we were out. I am happy that we are still first in the Premier League. That's the most important thing, the aim is to stay there."
...........

City currently top the Premier League table with 60 points, two ahead of rivals United in second and seven in front of third-placed Tottenham.

yeh I agree with you Beefy about rooney, but lets face it...he isnt going to tear up a tournament any time soon is he? the message to him is, back up your arrogance...I dont think he ever will, because the spark has been coached out of him, he isnt as good as he, or the english media thinks he is, and he has a suspect temperament that shows no sign of abating.

I think that if anything the things that happened in that match were an advert for match fixing.

What a difference between Yaya's attitude towards us compared to the skanky toerag who keeps chucking his toys out of his pram. I hope Yaya stays with us for a very long time.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, it's just possible that you haven't really grasped the gravity of the situation.

The guy oozes class on and off the pitch. Like last season his form is peaking at the business end. I love him.
