CITY...BEST EVER?

Postby john68 » Wed Feb 22, 2012 2:28 pm

Statistically, the best ever Prem record belongs to the Chelsea (2005) who won it with 95pts/38 games - 2.5pts per game.
The 2nd best record is jointly held by the rags (2000)and Chelsea (2006) with 91pts/38 games - 2.394pts per game.

Currently, we have 60pts/25 games -2.4pts per game.

The maximum we can achieve this season is 99pts. Can we go til the end dropping only 3pts more and become the best ever Prem team? Or even drop 4pts and equal the best?............COULD WE BE THAT GOOD?

We definitely could, but I think it will take the beating of both chelsea and rags because I reckon we'll drop two points away.

More likely we'll best the rags' best ever finish and that will defo do me!

I'll be happy with 61 points if it wins us the league.

I think we'll drop more than 4 points, but could manage 2nd in the all time points

I'm glad that we've got past the 40 point relegation threshold. Old habits......

We can but we won't. As high as possible in the 80's is what I am hoping for.88 or 89 but we do need to keep that home record going

Technically, we could still go down. I won't be comfortable till we beat Blackburn.

Doug,
I looked at the run in and reckon anything lower than 90 could see us fall to 2nd. Though I'd have been ecstatic with that at the start of the season, runners up would be a disappointment for me now
I think we have to hit 90+.

Just to show how sad a life I have....should we win our next 6 games, B'Burn (H), Bolton (H), Swansea (A), Chelsea (H), Stoke (A) and S'Land (H)...we overtake Chelsea and become the best ever Prem Team....Now that would be special.

The team seems to have a bit of a buzz about it now, which gives me hope we can find our early season form. If we do that, we can win most of our remaining games. My biggest worry was an injury to Lescott or Vinny or injuries/suspensions/loss of form, to DS or our strikers.

Kolo showed a bit better form when he played before the break, so we have backup there & now we have Herman back for emergencies so we have backup there. Silva is our potential Achilles heel, which is why I hope to christ we don't play the rags in the Europa; they may try to kick him out of the team. They never miss a trick.

Imo, it's all in the mind now. If we have the mentality that we can beat everybody, we will do. If we get nervous, the rags will win it.

Quite agree Ted.
I was just musing and playing around with stats, wondering where our team this season stood in the big picture. Gotta say it was big suprise.
It would be a great feather in City's cap if they could boast the best ever Prem team, put the rags in their place.

...Kicking the shit out of an opponent is nothing new Mate and I certainly wouldn't trust the rags. Pardoe, Bell and Haarland are testimony to that....The rags have plenty of previous.

Its a shame that the rags are having a fucking good season too. I know they are always up there, but considering how we blitz up the league early on we were only ever 6 point ahead.

Scums fans are all quiet relaxed at work, thinking they finish the season strongly, its true they do, but why shouldnt it reserve this season, with a strong start and weaker finish?

The other annoying thing is they've actually had a terrible season with injuries, but they still keep getting the wins.

Thats why I think Norwich will beat them tomorrow, Norwich arent scared to have a go at anyone, neither are Swansea.

Meaningless if we lost the rest. Important thing is to be the best this season over 38 games. If we are then best ever, it would be a nice bonus

You are quite right to be so pessimistic....But I don't think we are likely to lose all of our remaining games,,,We should pick up the odd point here and there.
At least you can take solace in the fact that mathmatically we can no longer finish in the bottom 5.
There now, that should cheer you up.
