I'm having an argument at work with a lad who is saying a silver goal has been used or would have been used if the match hadn't been won before full time, I say he's wrong but can't prove it but if I can the he'll lose an eyebrow (I haven't bet mine)

Can anyone help?

Wait, hes saying a silver goal has been used in normal time? What?

Confused a little....but if you're just arguing about the existence of the silver goal in general then yeah its been used before. I remember it in Euro 2004....

Wikipedia confirms this too!

In the 2002 season UEFA introduced a new rule, the silver goal, to decide a competitive match. In extra time the team leading after the first fifteen minute half would win, but the game would no longer stop the instant a team scored. Competitions that operated extra time would be able to decide whether to use the golden goal, the silver goal, or neither procedure during extra time. The only major competitive match to be decided by a silver goal was the semi-final match of Euro 2004 between Greece and the Czech Republic, when Traianos Dellas scored for Greece after a corner kick in the last two seconds of the first period of extra time. This was also the last ever professional silver goal.

The silver goal rule was used only once in a major comp final if memory serves it was France v Italy in Euro 2000.

If the Italy manager banned Mario from their up and coming friendly, would Mario:

A.) Go to Nando's and buy everyone a chicken
B.) Go to Nando's and steal someone's chicken
C.) Tell his bird he actually hates her, and was only having a laugh with the tee shirt
D.) Throw a dart at the Italy manager in the next training session he's allowed to be involved in
