So Pearce picked the best player in the world as England Captain.

In other news Scott Parker's club manager Harry Redknapp has not been interviewed for the post of England Manager.

Surprising this, baffling in fact, how Parker would ever get the job ahead of Gerrard.

Thank fuck Pearce is only in charge for this game

Edit to say, everyone knows Hart will be captain in the future, so why not just do what Speed did with Ramsey and make the guy captain without all the bullshit about experience etc. If Hart is able to command his area amongst some of the top players in the world, he has all the experience needed to be captain.

Pearce is a clown as i have pointed out already, this doesnt surprise me, parker the most overrated footballer in england.

he is 31 his international career is over after the summer, he should of gone for someone young, the future!

Is it possible he knows Harry would appoint Parker for the Euros?
Rooney and Gerard although argueably more talented and established players are not exactly role models with their bad behaviour on and off the pitch.

Never stopped us appointing Ferdinand and Terry (twice)

Terry's bad behaviour was the reason Capello left the job. The FA are trying to send out a message IMO that the way players behave matters as they can be role models to the public especially youngsters, (extension of "respect" campaign)

At least there is one person on twitter telling it how it is, Franny Lee.

hes 31 and only has 10 caps for supposedly one of the best international teams around, i will be honest i wouldn't even have parker in my squad let alone team. I would have given it to Barry if he wanted someone experienced.

Not me. Scott Parker doesn't play for City. He should be in "off topic".

Probably like many City fans I was hoping it would be a City player, Hart/Milner/Barry? however I like Parker's industry/workrate and would rather him than say Rooney. He was top of some recent fans vote on the current best English player. I agree he is nearing the end of his career but his age and experience may give him more authority with the other players?

As much as it's a privilege to captain England, and it'd be great to boast about having the EC come from City, im glad none of our lads have been given the job.

The media cant get enough of trying to dismantle the lives of whoever it is in the role. Granted over the last few years our captains have deserved every bit of the shit theyve had, but there's enough pressure on players as it is and if (more like 'when') it all goes tits up at the Euro's it will be the captain in the spotlight as much as any.

I dont want any of our players returning home after 'leading' England into another media shitstorm of a competition.

Give it to Shrek. Let him have another shocker and come back for the new season a shadow of himself again.

Must mean Gareth Barry or James Milner aren't starting tonight! The Media will be loving it tonight then!

Come Nige, savage him in the first minute and set the tempo from there!

I am with you on that and especially re Joe Hart.Leave him alone to be the best keeper in the world and the keeper for the league champs for this season and reconsider after that.

The alternatives were Capello still manager and Terry captain, now that they are history thankfully I don't care its a friendly,I support my country and want them to do well.I am happy that the manager is English as it should be ( I cannot stand Redknapp so that could be a problem if he got the job).So come on England.

Good god no. Didnt want Joe Hart burdened with it at all. Thank god he wasnt selected.

Gerrard is the vice Captain, he shouldh ave been named. Pearce has created a story where there wasnt one. Imagine if England fluked a win tonight, and Pearce "shudder" got the job for the Euros. Oh dear - its possible.

I wouldnt let Pearce manage a sunday Pub team.

Typical England, typical Pearce ( the whole situation handled stupidly ) typical Harry Redknapp.
