The Spanish playmaker is set to join Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez in the top bracket of City's earners by the end of this season
Manchester City will begin new contract talks with David Silva next month – and are ready to make him the fourth £200,000-a-week player at the club, Goal.com can reveal.
City officials want to tie the Spaniard down to a new four-year deal before he joins up with the Spain squad at the end of the season to begin preparing for Euro 2012.

Silva’s current contract expires in 2014 and it is understood that City will sit down with the player and his advisers in April to discuss a two-year extension that will keep him at Etihad Stadium until 2016.
The early indications from informal discussions held between the club and Silva are that the player is keen to extend his agreement and talks are expected to progress smoothly.
The playmaker’s pay will leap from its present £140,000 mark to elevate him alongside Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez in the top bracket of City earners.
City recognise how important it is to hold on to the 26-year-old, who has blossomed into one of the outstanding players in the Premier League during his second season in England.
Silva is one of the frontrunners to win the PFA player of the year gong for a campaign in which his combined total of 19 goals and assists in league competition is bettered only by Robin van Persie, Aguero, Emmanuel Adebayor and Wayne Rooney.
Speaking earlier this week, Silva said he was settled in England and praised manager Roberto Mancini for giving him an integral role in the team.
"I am very happy in England, I have two years left on my contract and I want to see it out,” Silva said.
"Right now, I do not want to return [to Spain], I am enjoying life in England, people treat me wonderfully and I want to continue enjoying this.
"Mancini has complete trust in me, which is very important for a player and I am very happy. My team-mates are adapting well to my game and that is very good for me."

Give him Tevez's contract in the summer when kettle head leaves.
Id probably donate a kidney to Silva if he ever needed one.

Dear Mr. Silva,
The club would like to discuss your new contract.
How much would you like?
Thank you.

He'll extend his contract. He loves it here. Playing with class players, brilliant manager, top of the league, running rings around any and all oppo put infront of him with more of the best players in the world likely to be on their way in the summer and a POTY award with his name on it.
Life must be pretty good for the little man right now. Bet he didn't think it would ever be this good when he was getting ignored in la Liga by real and barca.

He loves being called Dave. Simple as that.
"Siiva" or "Daveeede" or whatever, isn't his thing. He's a regular bloke like you and me.
That's why he'll stay at City forever.

I remember that. For some reason, I'm thinking Merson, but he only ever says dumb things so I may naturally have just assumed that. Or if not, probably one of the retards on Talksport.

It was a guest 'journalist' on Talksport. He also said he'd never heard of Yaya Toure in the same piece. Mike Parry was actually agreeing with him then it sort of dawned on him (or the producer got in his ear) that this was so big a blunder by the 'journalist' that it was potentially career ending for Parry if he went along with it. At that point he back tracked and pointed out the pedigree of each player but this dismissed by the 'journalist'.
I remember it vividly. I was listening live and it was just too bad to get angry at. I actually laughed at loud.

How the hell can you call yourself a journalist and don't know who Yaya and Dave are? FFS, the first one was a Champions League winner with Barcelona and the second won the European Championship with Spain, was a first team player in that squad, not a reserve and scored a cracker with Chelsea.
This is beyond stupidity.

I think a lot of us knew who he was and also knew he was the man behind a lot of the success of David Villa. Villa is a great striker, but Silva was pulling the strings in that team.

Nobody in Europe can afford to take him away.
I genuinely believe Dave loves it here at City , his new deal will be done.
Thank You Sheik Mansour.

Just give him Tevez' wages.
Although I think City can draw a line in the sand now about these silly salaries when Tevez and Adebayor get sold. Players will now be more likely to play here because they want to now, which is the position the owners no doubt envisaged 2.5 years ago when the really silly money started to get spent.

Supposedly....
Manchester City have agreed a massive £60m four-year deal to keep their sensational Spanish midfield maestro David Silva at the Etihad Stadium until he's 32.
