The atmosphere at the ethiad?

Postby paulmclaren » Sat Mar 03, 2012 3:45 pm

Has to be the worst atmosphere at any ground in Britain at times, what can be done to improve it.
Were top of the league, have the best mcfc team ever assembled and the most money spent on a club ever.
Why's it so fucking poor, it's disgraceful tbh.

My friend I have been here before many times. (See previous posts.)

Maybe a few decent chants would be good?

Are you at the game? Not being cheeky as I understand what you are saying but tv coverage doesn't always tell the the full story.

I hate saying it, particularly as a foreign fan... But it atrocious at times. Maybe its down to acoustics in part but foooook me it has been dismal a lot of the time. Possibly the best away support I've seen so something doesn't add up.

Do some singing then.

I sing but you won't be able to hear me in the telly from here.

Maybe people have started to expect us to win.

I hope that when we need the support, it will be there.

Wasn't the worst and doesn't help if the coach load of away fans make no noise whatsoever.

Yeah the atmosphere isn't electric every game, for whats it worth I don't think it was so bad today. But what are we comparing too? Generally Premiership grounds are quieter than they used to be, it just goes with the territory of packing stadiums with more and more families (something we have to do). It will never be as good as grounds in Germany for example because football has changed.

It's poor compared to other leagues but I honestly don't think its any worse than most grounds in the top flight, so what more should we expect?

it doesnt help when 1 area is singing 1 song and another is singing another song as this happened today. i think that the only song where most was singing today was stand up if you love man city. we really need to move away fans somewhere else, M60 would be a good start

What we need is a fat guy in the away fans that is visible to us every game. Today and every other day there is a fat guy the noise gets going. There were times today that were quiet and there were times when it got quite loud. Tv is bullshit. 30,000 people that don't sit in 109/10/11 or south stand being very quiet dot help matters either.

Thought it was quite good myself. It was tetchy at times due to the opening salvo's where we couldn't put it past their keeper but there was still some decent singing. I think a lot of people are feeling the pressure and my mind was flicking back to the time when we played them off the field, hitting the post and crossbar on numerous occassions only for Dunney to give a penalty in added time. Anyone remember that one? Typical City may have moved on with the team but it's definately still alive in the fans.

Once we had the second the relief/release kicked in and that's when the fat boy songs kicked in and fits of laughter swung around the ground; fuck me, even the North Stand gave a rendition of 'Stand up if you Love City'.

I don't get why people complain though, were they actuually there to feel the atmosphere, not just hear it. And were they gainfully supporting the atmosphere or just merely taking it all in?
