Changing travel plans

Postby ayrshireblue » Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:44 pm

I've made what could potentially be a schoolboy error. I've bought a ticket for the Sunderland game on the 31st of March and booked trains to travel down and back up the same day. Now I realise if we make the Europa Cup quarter-finals the game will be put back to the Sunday. I would still be able to make the game but wondered if anyone has knowledge on changing train bookings. If it's any help I booked through mytrainticket.co.uk How apt that the rearranged date would be 1st April. Fool indeed.

I'd speak directly with the website, ayrshireblue. They have a bit on amendments:
http://www.mytrainticket.co.uk/help-and-support

Likeliness is that, if we do get through, the game will be moved to Sunday but you never know.

Wife and kids are staying in the Lake District that weekend so I could drive down there then get the train from there. That'll teach me to be organised and book well in advance. D'oh!!!

Yes, sadly it's been part of my job for pretty much all of my working life!

It depends what tickets you have bought, if they are Advance Singles you can change them for £10 plus any difference in cost. This has to be done before the date on the original tickets but I would advise doing it as soon as you know for definite that you will need to change them.

If you you have an off-peak ticket you will need to put them in for refund and buy new tickets. The refund fee is usually about £10 per ticket.

If you have an Open Return then your outward ticket should be valid to travel out the following day on it. Check the 'Valid Until' date on your outward ticket.

Is that £10 a journey or £10 a ticket as I have four legs of my trip and £40 to change plans isn't really worth it.
As I said the family are near the Lake District that weekend so I could travel to Preston as originally organised then just go to the lakes on Saturday afternoon and down to Manchester on the Sunday then travel home to Ayrshire on the Sunday after the game. Works out at £40 for that so I've got a decent back-up plan. Travelling from Ayrshire to Manchester on a Sunday doesn't really work because the first train is too late in the morning. Hopefully we beat Sporting and I get a Saturday night in the Lake District.

Rather than starting a new thread on a similar subject I thought I would ask here. I'm looking to book train tickets to Newcastle for the penultimate game of the season, currently scheduled for 3pm Saturday, 5th May. Does anyone know if this game can still be moved? I can see that Arsenal v Norwich has been changed to 12:45 that day but Sky Sports upcoming fixtures don't appear to extend to May (here). The FA Cup Final is on 5th May as well. Anybody know what Sky might do?

Hasn't that fixture already been moved?

I'm sure both of you aren't wrong, but where does it say that? The OS, the City mobile app, BBC, Premier League and Sky Sports sites all still show it as 3pm on Sat 5th May.
