The Arsenal Game

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Arsenal Game

Postby Ted Hughes » Tue Apr 03, 2012 11:09 am

I said a short while ago that I reconed if we beat Chelsea & Arsenal we will win the title. I didn't expect the Sunderland result but imo, it still stands.

I think we will win the league if we win at the Emirates.

We have won most of the big games we have played since the cup semi & the only ones we have lost have been down to referees.

Win there & we get our chance v the rags. The extra pressure will cause them to drop points. The 'experience' thing is a media lie. They were shitting it last night & Blackburn had more chances to score than they did. Now, the pressure is off them a bit but we win at Arsenal. it's right back on, believe me.

i do think we'll rebound and beat the arse. scum too. but this is city...even if somehow regain the lead, i expect we'll lose it away at newcastle or, worse still, at home to qpr. hughes would celebrate like he'd just won the chimps league!!!

You never know, although he does tend to play like an asthmatic tortoise v Utd. If he can't take any points off them, perhaps he could just tread on Rooney's ankle ?

A bit of vintage SWP wouldn't go amiss. Ned has won there in the past too.

I'm with you on that Ted. Let's not give up now...lets go to the emirates and get a good thumping morale boosting win and show them that were not giving up that easily. To give ourselves any chance now, we have to win every game up to the derby, we have to go into the derby no more than 5 points behind in my opinion, then beat them in the derby and go into the last 2 games only 2 points behind. Then we'll see what they are made of. COME ON CITY!!

Spot on.

A victory there would put us in a great psychological position.

They would be going from a position of typical crowing, pisstaking, we've got it sewn up, wankstains to "oh fuck, if we drop points here we could be in the shit ".

Cut forward a week and there'll no doubt be a thread with a scenario "If we beat WBA 5-0 and then beat Norwich away 9-0, and then Utd lose 8-1 at Wigan and then 5-0 at home to Villa, we will then be within a point come the derby"

Look at our form, especially away over the past 5 months, and look at our remaining away fixtures. Look at our performance on saturday. Our bolt is shot, plain and simple. If we can keep the gap at 5 points until we meet on Apr 30th I will be amazed because Utd will beat QPR, they will beat Villa, they will beat Wigan and they will beat Everton who are their personal bunny.

Oh of course.

I'm sorry for assuming they are not invincible under pressure. I'll go and cut my fucking wrists & put my rag bullshit brainwashing tapes on.

A win at Arsenal would change that form, surely you can see that ?

You lot are fucking beaten that's for sure. It's pathetic.

People here could be French. The sense of giving up is that bad.

Until it is mathematically impossible it is not impossible. If anything, the pressure may be off us.

I understand why people think bad form continues forever, because when you're in bad form even personally, that's how it feels.

But it is a fact that one game can change everything in terms of form for both us and the rags.

So forgive me for not using what I've witnessed before from far shitter teams as a basis for not giving in right now.

I know how you feel, and I was feeling like this this morning, but i've since thought bollocks to it. Lets believe. While it is still possible, why shouldn't we believe. Why go down in a whimper....I wouldn't give in so easily in life, why should I do it when it comes to football.

I've watched city enough to realise that it's never over till it's actually over. We have to stick at it. That's what champions do. I hate to say it, but it's what the scum do....we have to get into that mentality of never giving in. If we don't do it this year, then it won't be for a want of trying or believing. We move on and we have another go next season, and we believe from the off. We are not one season wonders here...this is what we are going to be faced with every season for a good while hopefully. No one said it was going to be easy.

I've been a member on here for some time now, but as you can see from my post count, I'm not really considered to be a regular poster.....I read most of what gets posted on here, and while most of it is informative and constructive....there's also a lot of drivel (I'm not for one minute saying you post quoted above is drivel by the way :))....we have to stick together.

As the song says "The boys in blue never give in".

The saving grace for me is that the rags remaining fixtures look easy but are against sides fighting for servival. I was hoping a draw last night would give QPR the kick up the arse needed for them to push out of the drop zone. Surely that kind of attitude will still be in place. Our ex City lads putting in top performances would be very much welcomed. On the other hand, these teams are obviuosly down there for a reason but Blackburn could have caused the rags problems if they converted one or two of their chances.

The way its goin, if we win it, it will be the best way posible. just not great for the blood pressure.

What I am Ted is a realist. My blue tinted specs are not on all the time and there is no indication at all in our away form or in the past 38 years that we will win a league game on Arsenal's patch - we havent done so since 1974 - and a Carling Cup win against their 2nd team will have no bearing come sunday. Thanks to the Nasri saga their motivation to shove it up us will be extremely high and we will need to be at our very best to win there, something we havent been at for months now.

If being a realist makes me pathetic, then colour me pathetic.

looks like they won it.
1.I can't see us winning alla ou remaining games.
2. And I honestly can't see them dropping one little f'cking point bar us( and thats a maybe)
How can the weakest rag team for decades running away with it is beoynd me. It's just not that we seems to have imploded but where are the others.

City: Tottenham 6 pts United: Tottenham 6 pts
Chelsea: 3 pts Chelsea 4 pts
Arsenal: 3+ xxx pts Arsenal 6 pts
Liverpool: 4 pts Liverpool 4 pts
Total: 16 + arse(A) pts Total:20 pts

If we can beat Arse we'll have 19 and they would have 20 pts from the "top teams"

It's the Everton and Swansea A and Sunderland H&A that has cost us most. We only have 1 pts from these games whereas they have 9 and a very likely will get 12 pts.
THATS 11 POINTS DIFFERENCE AND THERE LIES THE TRUTH.
