The next Kompany? City swoop for Anderlecht youngster Bossaerts

Manchester City have snapped up long-term target and Anderlecht starlet Mathias Bossaerts.
The 15-year-old Belgian has agreed a four-year deal with the club and will move to England at the end of the season.
Bossaerts comes from the same academy that current skipper Vincent Kompany learned his trade in and is sure to excite fans of the Manchester Club.
Rivals Manchester United and Liverpool were tracking the youngster, but he has opted to move to City.
'Manchester City has been following me for almost three years,' he told Het Nieuwsblad.

'I always shunned them, but their scouts kept watching me and continued to follow me.
'Eventually I agreed a deal with them after extensive consultation between my agents and my parents.
'In July I move to Manchester, where I have already found a house for my family to live with me. It is important for my development that my mum and dad stay close to me.'

I sometimes wonder what these parents do. I mean fair enough, I can understand some lads from south American favelas bringing their parents over but you'd think people in Belgium would have jobs and their whole life there.

Also, no, I'm not particularily excited about lad who may or most likely may not pan out in six years time.

I agree with you in general but are you really never ever excited about city signing youngsters?

I have never seen an urban area so impoverished as Anderlecht anywhere in Europe. It is terrible, and if I were in his parents' situation, I'd be getting straight out to the relative pleasantry of Moss Side. That's making the assumption that he is from Anderlecht, but I think they tend to recruit relatively locally.

I think it's great that we're bringing in these talented kids. Of course, uptil now 49 out of 50 don't reach the standard we require, but we've never had the kind of raw talent we are assembling on this scale. If you've got 20 possibles out of 200 rather than 4 or 5, you stand a chance of getting a significant number through.

We have quite a few decent prospects here already but with all the extra potential we are bringing in, it vastly increases our chances of producing a decent number of players for the 1st team squad in the coming years, during which period we will be building the new academy, which imo will revolutionise the way things are done over here in the future.

Having world class players come through your academy has to start somewhere right?

Never know, but hopefully all the hard work pays off in a few years.

In many cases the club actively seeks to settle the family with English lessons and to find work for the parents in the area, whether they are professionals or factory workers

Well, it's not like Belgium's that far away, so setting him up in a house for mum, dad, brothers, sisters, and the cat is all a long way removed from the days of putting a lad in digs with a landlady and a bus pass, but I guess that's progress. Or maybe he could just move into Kompany's spare room and Vinny could keep an eye on him.

maybe you'd rather go boating and talk about stocks and dividends than hear about an exciting young kid who wants to play for City?

also, lighthouses.
