Player values

As a club, why do we continually slate/critically analyse individual players so publicaly so much as to de-value them massively when it comes to getting rid of them?
Just the most obvious I can think of recently...
Robinho
Bellamy
Adebayor
Tevez
Balotelli
...I'm sure there are many more.
Yes, some of it is also down to the players, but surely we can manage this better!
We just seem to kill sell on values!

Huh?
I don't think this is true. I think you are overvaluing "noise" coming from selective quotes or the shitty media.
Any club looking to acquire a player from us (or anyone) should be putting little to no stock in shit like this. They will have (or should have as professional club doing due diligence) a whole lot of scouting and background checks and such before they get a player.
It will be if they think the player can fit their system and succeed at their club.
Bob saying "Maybe we will look to sell them" doesn't devalue the player. The clubs will know if we want to sell someone when there is contact made and negotiations are started. The actions of the players on the pitch (or off it) will go much farther to determine their transfer value than words spoken about them in public.
And we also just have to get used to the fact that "money bags City" is going to get the short end on both sides of the transfers going forward. Clubs know we have tons of money to spend so will jack up prices to obtain their players. And they know if we look to unload someone we want them gone and that we probably need to sell to comply with FFP so they will try to undercut and get the players as cheap as possible.
Its not like we are trying to unload players who have no problems and are hugely successful. If they were, we'd be keeping them. Its players like Balo or Tevez who are hugely talented but come with more than a bit of baggage. We want them gone to as not be "distracting". But because they are on a huge wage and are still very talented, only big clubs will come in for them. And those clubs know they are taking on a risk so won't be willing to pay anywhere near what we paid, so we will take a loss.
I fail to see how anything the club has done has lessened their value. We took Tevez back in order to try to keep his value up. We've played Balo more than a lot of people have wanted. Nothing Bob has said or will say will lower his value. That crazy cunt is doing it all by himself by his on and off-field actions.

We've never sold well, even before the lottery win. SWP is just about the only one. Barton as well actually...but other than that the club has regularly taken it up the pipe re: selling

I'm betting players taking a few months off on golfing leave and a few untimely 'incidents' (fireworks, car crashes, bust ups you know the drill) probably devalues them a bit more than Bob having a paddy

Balotelli & Tevez have devalued themselves.
The manager devalued Bellamy & Adebayor was overpriced but devalued further by Bob victimising him. I suspect he'd treat them very differently if they'd been at the club this season & both would have been in the squad Sunday.
Robinho is a useless cunt who we paid too much for but used for publicity.

Plus the wages to get them to sign for us.
When it comes to selling, the wages remain high because they are all too greedy to accept much less pay, meaning the buying club will offer less and play the sob story about only being able to pay that much in fee's due to the player demanding the wages.
If we want them off the wage bill, we take a hit on the fee.

A players value is what the highest bidder is willing to pay!

It is, but if every time you had a viewer you told them that the roof leaked, the price they would be prepared to bid will go down!
