Will our Lads manage the pressure back on?

as pointed out by many, today's match against a brave, fair but pretty shit opposition, has risen serious concerns about the subject, taking into account what we saw at the Emirates.
personally I am full of confidence for the derby, but very much concerned on how we can manage to get 3 points from the Geordies, if the Lads shall start there so much under pressure [just like we even saw the first 15' today]
I want to highlight the following posts which pretty much resume the major angle of debate.
Particularly I'm not so confident that the rags will implode and drop points after they will be hammered our place.
brite blu sky wrote:[strike]Lets see how we do today first[/strike]. But IF we close the gap then they have a real problem on their hands. If you looked at City's vunerability it would be to lock us down and counter. Slur may well look at the maths and go all out for a draw, that point could be the key for a title win.
I'd be confident that on the day City will overpower them and win it, whatever strategy they try.
You really couldn't make all this up could you, IF we get a win today then we are in for one of the hottest derby's in recent memory. Insane.
Ted Hughes wrote:IanWright wrote:F***in Barcodes with their f***in resurgence don't help none, either. These fixtures really haven't been kind to you this end of the season.
Well they have that day marked down as their cup final but that means they will attack us & therefore leave opportunities at the back. It's upto us to exploit it.
I fancy rags to drop more points than just v City now though.

I'm not convinced the rags will take 6 points from those two games. I said before the Arse game that I thought the rags may crack if we won it. We didn't but they cracked anyway.
We have to win 3 games though realistically because we can't rely on others.
Newcastle are going to cause us much more trouble than Wolves or Norwich if we give them even an inch but I think they are dodgy at the back, whatever their recent results suggest, so we have to put our chances away.

I don't want to think about beating the Geordies until we have beaten the scum - one game at a time for me I'm afraid.

There's something about going to Newcastle near the end of the season. Winning the league there in '68, Mpenza winning us the game to keep us in the league under Pearce. And overall we have an excellent record against them.
Funnily enough I think the Arsenal game a couple of weeks ago was a defining moment. The fact that we lost it, and with such a poor performance to go with it, perhaps made the filth complacent. The theme everywhere was that it was all over - and they ended up getting beaten at Wigan. It also served as a kick up the arse for us - similar in many ways to when we lost at Everton at a similar time last season, our performances after it improved dramatically leaving us with a cup and 3rd spot.
It's so simple now - 3 games, 3 wins and it's ours. The fucking Premier League.

A season is made up of many defining moments. I think the two Xmas games against Sunderland and WBA were defining. It showed teams that we could be beaten after all and was also the start of our first bad run of form. Another defining moment was the very narrow home win against Spurs. Had we lost that game, I think the title race would have been between rags and spurs.

To be in that situation is unreal...

It would have been between rags & rags, Spurs would have just started getting beaten the week after instead.
I threw the towel in for the 1st time after the Arsenal game but whatever happens, I think we all need to take note of this situation & the way the rags have used the media to (successfully) create a feeling around a lot of City fans that the title race was over when it was (& is) still well & truly on.
We should never believe this shit again & we still shouldn't give up even if we don't win next week.
The 'experience' they talk about is in reality experience of spreading their shit throughout the football media & fans & then oppo teams blowing it when they had it in their hands rather than anything special the rags do.
The myth that they usually win all their games at the death is exactly that.

i reckon if we beat rags well win the league remember when barcodes came to ours in good form unbeaten, 3-1 we did em, i think were too strong for them and hopefully we will be 3pts clear before the rags play, they play the late game at 4. was only other week taggart said the tv scheduling might put us off all in our favour now.

To directly answer the OP by Mancio, I am not convinced we will not suffer from the pressure. However due to the experience of last time and the return of Tevez's attitude I think despite suffering it will not be enough to lose the plot again. We would all like to see total Tally-Ho attitude and play like we just didn't care. In reality I rekon we will look like we are a bit subdued but perfectly professional. So some workmanlike performances a bit like today and a bit of individual brilliance thrown in to win.
On the same theme, there was evidence of a bit of a wobble today, play suddenly got tight and a bit difficult, but the players just stuck at it and Mancini did the right thing moving Yaya fwd and Nige to win back control of midfield. It looked to me that the players just went on to rely on what they knew they could do, the passing came back to normal levels. That is quite telling for me as it showed a kind of team mentally getting its head sorted together.. without as in the past having gone behind to trigger a reaction. In simple terms we pulled our socks up.

The title will be as good as won on the 6th of May at Newcastle! I feel we will do them next Monday equaling the points with us ahead on goal difference. Then on the 6th we will cruise at Newcastle and Swansea will make an astonishing come back in fergi time to beat them 1 - 2. Thus meaning, bar us losing by around three and them winning Sunderland by four or five it will be ours! The title itself will be complete, sealed and lifted on the 13th May at MAINE ROAD! (well Eastlands cause I cant spell eatihead!) ;-p

Mancini needs to keep his nerve and not transmit any tension to the team, which he seemed to do well in his after-game presser. Continue in the same vein and keep telling them they've got nothing to lose, it's all on the Rags.
Only this eez important.

United won't play for a draw against us. They'll go out for a win. They're gonna start very high tempo and very quick, look to sneak an early goal and hit us on the break.
Watching them today they look really dangerous going forward but invitingly suspect at the back. One thing's for sure is that there's gonna be a lot of goals.

I think Mancini should keep saying the titles lost even if Vinny is accepting the trophy on the last day.
It's bloody working!
