It's fair enough. He wants to play first team football regularly. If we can't offer him that then surely it's in both parties best interests to get rid of him? An unhappy year will lower his fee and cause rifts.

Its not fair enough..if he wants to be a number 2 in a team of Citys stature then hes fuckign dreaming.

loan him to swansea next season. will be properly schooled there and will give us a chance to see if he can cut it in the premier league...

I think you're taking it wrong. He's not saying he deserves to be number 9 or 10 At City - unless i've misread it?.... he's just saying he WANTS to be a 9 or a 10 and he wants playing first team football somewhere and it seems to me he realises he won't be getting that at City cos of the players we have so he'd rather be somewhere else. I don't see what's wrong with calling it how it is?

It'd be massively detrimental to him now in his development to play 15 games this year after the season he's had, and he knows that. I agree too!

Agree with this. Though I think he'd want to be loaned to a bigger club. Dropping from Feyenoord to Swansea may be quite a drop. Perhaps at a slightly bigger club, but still relatively harmless, like...Liverpool? ho ho ho

Agree with that twosips....he's about the only loanee I can recall us sending to a half-decent team and him being a real proper success (altho seems that Rekik could easily be another).

I don't think he's saying he thinks he could or should currently be number 1 or 2 striker at City. I think what he is saying is that he needs to be one of the first striking options SOMEWHERE next season.

Challenge for City and Guidetti IMO is get him back here for pre-season and see how he looks/performs. I suspect that, as others have said here and previously, the answer that suits both parties (in theory) is for him to go to a PL club where he will play most weeks.

HOWEVER, if you were in Guidetti's shoes and (say) Feyenoord said, OK make your move permanent and stay and really learn your craft here for 2-3 solid more years of uninterrupted development then if you want to leave and someone pays the right fee we'll let you go VS go back to City for "will they keep me/will they loan me" for the next two years and no guarantee whatsoever about what teams you might end up going out to and/or how much playing time they'll give you....well, there is certainly an element of better the devil you know and consistency that would push him towards the exit door at City IMO.

If we really do believe he may have what it takes, just not this coming season at City then they are going to have to really sell the opportunity available to him in a years time...maybe throw him some more money etc....to keep him in my view

Yep. It's a shame, cos I wish he could do a welbeck for us...cos Welbeck's game time has gradually increased over the years and he's developing into a very good player, and i feel that Guidetti could play 20 games for us next season and score 10 goals, and then the season after play 25 and after that 40....it's just i don't think he wants to wait. And I understand.

He's probably thinking 'if bundesliga top goalscorer and £35m signing Dzeko can't start often, how can i?'...fair comment too.

Does it not say something that he doesnt just want to sit and pick up his money and wants to contribute more than just warming the bench?

Ha. He doesn't say that at all. He says he's looking for a club that will say he should be...cos he knows City won't tell him that.

Yeah your right carl again.

I want my strikers to be shy, insecure and quiet.

Looks like he has had a taste of being the big fish and now he wants to stay in his small pond. Probably not ready for our first team and no team that has any aspirations of actually winning something will risk putting it all in the hands of an untested 20 year old.

So his options are, bench and play out of his skin to prove himself and earn his place in ours or another top teams starting line up OR start for a shit team.

So if he comes back and is prepared to fight to be in our team then I don't mind him "wanting" the shirt and maybe being abit cocky about it aslong as he is willing to put the effort in.

Would you prefer he lack confidence and say he would be very happy being the 4th choice off the bench? Last I checked arrogant strikers are not a bad thing.
