1968 shows that funny things can happen against Newcastle and Sunderland.

I became a glory-hunter that year!

Lee, just search Johns name! The preview was brilliant but I seem to recall he did a fantastic piece a few weeks back that went into a little more detail. Unless I am mistaken, of which case I blame cider, rafter and my heart rate being so high for the past week!

It's great isn't it? You wake up, become slowly conscious, throat like a camel crapped in it. The 3 empty bottles of red wine a testimony to the last 3 hours of a day drinking since 2pm, and then you slowly remember what happened!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

Funny enough I was thinking how much was the same from 68, there was a "Must win" derby but at old tradgic, previously posponed due to bad weather so the build up went on for ages, we went there and f*cking hammered what I still say was their best ever team 1-3.
It was close all the way in to the last game with us away at Newcastle and "They" were at home, the MuEN was of course full of how they were bound to win it having a nice easy home game while we had to go up against a very good newcastle side so of course had no chance................and we went and took it with the style that became our own, attacking football at its very best where our defence was to score more goals, the game was a sea-saw and there are many better right ups than I could manage, but my memory is more to do with the crowd that day.

We may well have been away, but if there was more geordies in that ground it wasn`t by many, the noise was a constant roar rising to deafing for the goals, the last of our goals and the final whistle will live with me forever (And the newcastle fans that day were magnificent as they stayed and applauded), as will the journey home that turned into a party on the motorway as the traffic crawled stop start most of the way back.

All credit to Newcastle that day and the way they played. The three goals they scored were absolute belters but City were so determined that there was only going to be one result.

What a game and what an atmosphere as both sides went for the other's throats. It's days like that that make you think life can't get any better and I didn't come back to earth until weeks later, only to spend the summer dying for the new season to start.

I mentioned to Patrick earlier that those happy memories of yesteryear that we have held so dear, are the same memories and experiences that are being replicated at this moment.

If we win the League on the back of that derby win, the experiences of night will live long and loud in your memories.

Making history and you are part of it. Don't miss a moment.

1968! - and youtube makes it possible to keep watching it. In his interview on Monday night on the O.S. Joe Hart is asked if the players know that City last won the league at Newcastle and he says no. Even though they probably do (Summerbee would have told them) that's Hart saying 1968 doesn't matter and this team is about now. The history's only for the supporters, really.
