The half time whistle was sort of ignored due to all the singing. Never seen that happen before,
Things went a bit quiet and tense in the second half but rags obviously had no belief they could get anything. Perhaps they need to learn that support doesn't just mean cheering when you're winning. Maybe we should teach them over the next few years.

As we had scored a few mins earlier, the fans just stayed and carried on singing for a good 5 mins rather than the normal exodus for the stand.
Then a snowman thingy came on the pitch with them two fucking puppets, had the obligatory tedious penalty shootout where half the participants have never kicked a ball in their lives, and everyone shut up and fucked off

I thought the atmosphere sounded brilliant last night....it was just a wall of noise non-stop (or that's how it sounded on TV..). Loved how hostile everyone made it for United....class
Nasri also seems to agree

We were awesome, all four sides of the ground. The atmosphere, chanting and noise in the Family Stand was amazing.

Ian wrong says:
Q. DID the fans play their part?
A. The atmosphere was OK but I thought it would be a lot louder.
Obviously the place went wild when City scored yet I thought it would have been more intense.
I think the main reason was that the City fans — desperate for a win in one of their biggest ever matches — were incredibly nervous.

Great to see a forum t-shirt (St Mark's Cross) at half time behind 117 when the singing towards the away fans was getting pretty raucous

Staying behind for 20 minutes after the game just to pay back a fraction of the shit that theyve given us over the years was one of my most enjoyed moments at City.
Relentless. And they had to stand and watch it all.
Perfect.
We're Man City! We'll fight to the end!

I have to agree. There were long periods when the so called singers sections were completely silent. When I say long, I mean 5/10 minute lulls at a time - watching from the family stand, I commented that the atmosphere was nowhere near as intense as for previous derby games.
Although certain things like staying behind at half and full time were a little different to the norm, I feel the singers sections yet again let us down and left it to other areas to kick the atmosphere up a notch, so in the famiily stand we just did our own thing

My fave was the family stand giving united substitutes abuse. Ashley Young, when even the family stand calls you a cheat, you know your damned!
I did chuckle when the bloke near us just deadpanned 'Fucl Off, Michael Jackson!' when Nani came to take a foul throw!

difficult to sing when you're biting your nails...
huge amounts of tension in the ground last night. that wasn't a cheer at the end, it was 45,000 people breathing a collective sigh of relief...

The singing sections aren't very good on the whole but there was a fantastic buzz around the ground, even in the 'quiet' bits (for the most part anyway). So much so that when the rags started singing, I couldn't hear them at all where I was sat, just over the general background noise of excited chatter/random encouragement etc. I could see they were singing but I couldn't hear it.
Great atmosphere imo.

It seemed more of a celebratory atmosphere, even before the match, than a derby match where you can rid yourself of some serious bile and tension. I'd say the atmosphere was good, but just seemed a little "soft"
Had we got a couple of goals clear i'm pretty sure we would have cut loose. But even things like jeering over the announcement of the names didnt seem to have the edge it normally does.
