I think it's safe to release this story now, most of us senior Brisbane Blues have made some mighty commitments during our numerous campaigns supporting our club, however I am not sure if any of us can compete with this one and I must take my hat off and say a mighty well done to one of our Brisbane Blues who this week has been a patient at the Brisbane Private Hospital. He shall remain nameless unless he wishes to come forward and take a righly deserved bow and tell us the full story. The hero in question devised a fantastic escape plan which went into action approx 4am on Tuesday morning, Mr X escaped from the hospital, only stopping to put on his City shirt in a local phone booth, he arrived at The Pig N Whistle and was on duty with the rest of us. I am pleased to say that once the celebrations concluded Mr X was able to sneek back to his bed at the hospital and the nurses were none the wiser.
Well done Mr X.... Thats dedication for you. It's great to be a blue.

Pah. Discharged myself after ACL operation for our relegation battle in '96. Couldn't get down from Kippax Upper cos I bust my crutches whilst suitably 'refreshed' on Drambuie and Newcastle Brown.

Funny reading that - working in the hospital after the derby, I was thinking if I were a patient, there's no way I'd stomach missing games like the ones we're facing now.

I suppose it may have been quite negligent and dangerous for him to leave (depending on his condition, the need for serial observation, etc) but sounds like all went well and he got to see a great win.
