Homegrown Talent

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Homegrown Talent

Postby Typical City » Mon May 07, 2012 12:41 am

Went on Dead Cafe and they were talking about our lack of homegrown talent. Only Richards apparently as Hart was bought as a kid from Shrewsbury. Hmmmn De gay, Fabio, Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Valencia, Young, Scholes, Rooney, Sweet Pea. I call that one also. Thick Bastards.

You don't get it do you? This is not new news.

They can say this for only a little while longer, so they are milking it - when Giggs and Scholes go, they are down to Cleverly and Welbeck (if they have any homegrown starlets on the way it hasn't been huge news). The irony will in two years time when guys like Rekik and maybe Scapuzzi and Suarez make their debuts we will likely have more players. They come from the "church of whatever excuse is working now!" This same argument is used when they say they have built their team and we bought it. Their memories are short when it comes to these things, and they can only point the fact we have spent money over 4 years not 40 years like them.

I don't even know why you would go over there, do you really think you will find anything you agree with?

Well so far today i have had a 3 bitter texts from munes congratulating us for buying the league title.

None of the 3 morons saw the irony in their text when united today had one player in the starting lineup who came through their youth system. That was Paul Scholes from 17 years ago.

And as someone else has pointed out, their starting 11 and ours today was very close in value, as it was for both derby games (in fact for the 1-6 i think their team, cost more)

In all honesty, i'm looking forward to two weeks in the ukraine with uncle roy but to compare homegrown with us and them is a joke! at the end of the day were giving and gave some great young players the future endevour treatment!

Steps to respond to rags (if you can't ignore them)

1: Take the piss
2: Take the piss
3: Take the piss
4: Repeat steps 1-3 as required.

So when they say not many homegrown players: suggest David Silva. Then say you thought he was from Stockport. Then suggest James Milner. Finally suggest Tevez, they won't like that.
“Do onto others — then run!”

You are forgetting that they invest in young talent like Ashley Young who is only 26 while we buy established players like Sergio Aguero who is already 23!
