If we win on Sunday?
This would be a season with no trophies, not making a final and dumped out of the CL by the mighy Basel. How much money must they have lost out on this season and how will it affect their transfer/debt budget?

Ha ha ha, I expected that. But I'm thinking of the long haul. They must've lost at least 20 mil in revenue for not making/faking progress in the CL and cup games, plus the drop in PL revenue. They've got 2 old fuckers propping them up at the bar and with less funds surely they'll be scrimping around the Bargain Basement?

Any team that gets 86 or 89 points in a season will hardly fall apart next year. Theyll be there or there abouts like normal.

Unfortunately i have to agree with MRM, they will still be challenging for the title next year and no doubt they will spend in the summer, how much they spend though remains to be seen.

I disagree mate. Ferdinand, scholes and giggs will be a year older and even presuming they borrow more money and try to replace those players, they need even more players and it's going to take time to get going again.
I predict they will be lucky to finish third next season... And will most likely finish fourth.

Really don't give a fuck about them. I support MCFC, all I know is that the landscape of English football is changing. We will be a force long into the future, end of.

Four or five years ago, I expected and predicted their fall from grace. It never happened or did it?
I know they have consistently won trophies and made major finals but the week by week quality of their play has generally diminished.
They got away with being shit in the 1st season by the fact that Tranaldo scored so many and rescued so many games from either defeat or draw. He saved them so many points they didn't deserve.
When he went, I rubbed my hands with glee only tp watch as Shrek did the same. So many goals, so many points, so undeserved as a fair reflection of their play.
I don't think they have been anywhere near the best team in England for a number of years but they have always had that ability to find a goal or two and even a goal scorer or two. Over recent seasons, their cgances/goals ratio must be amazing.
As time goes on, it will become harder and harder to keep this up. They need replacements fast. Scholes,Giggs, Plug, Carrick, and others cannot go on for everand we saw last Monday how in the derby, Taggart was reduced to tactical suicide. An open and public admission to the football World that they couldn't compete with us.
It will be tougher for them next season. They may be somewhere near the top but they are not the force to fear.

I'd like to think it would shatter a lot of the younger players who have never even won a titles egos an they'd fall into decline, reality is until Baconface leaves the swamp in a body bag they'll probably keep pushing out results one way or another and keep challenging.

I disagree MRM. That debt is getting bigger and their brand is being diluted. Leeds ended up a mess for less money.

I agree with others on this thread
That old 'worst team in years transitional team' bollox is a joke
Make no mistake..Nited are a very good team..you don't get that amount of points being wank
And you don't get that amount of points by conspiracy theorist luck either
They will be on our tail next year you can guarantee it

They won't decline fast but I can see us progressively opening a gap. The rags are a few top players short of their peak years and even more when Scholes and Giggs retire. They won't get 4 or 5 class players in the transfer market any time soon because: (a) they are reluctant to spend big money, and (b) they'll be up against us and the big Spanish clubs. And they no longer have a supply chain of brilliant youngsters coming through the ranks.
I'm crying into my beer.

I honestly don't think they'd be anywhere near us if it wasn't for some dubious refereeing decisions. There's just been too many this season for it to be a coincidence.

Remember the Gary Neville article where he said that if we win, we get the 'Authority', as he put it. This is another affect that may take them down a peg or two.
What we've also noticed is how teams are now pushing United. The likes of Fulham, Wigan and Everton spring to mind and they all did very well, Fulham only losing by a solitary goal but pushed them all the way.
Are cracks starting to appear, especially after Taggart's outburst to Mancini. That filters down to the players as well.

I don't buy the tactical suicide comment. It's being spouted by media, pundits and disappointed scum fans, but all forget the main point: it was bacon face best shot at success.
Sure, we owned the game, but it could easily have been a very frustrating 0-0 draw for us. And had United played their usual 4-4-2 they might have had a chance of scoring a goal, but we would have absolutely murdered them, scoring many more.
