Is it something about playing in red?

I was dwelling on Fungi's comments about their superior history and it taking us 100 years etc and trying to think where I'd heard it all before. Then it occurred to me they are the new scousers.

Over the years those lovable and always funny rascals down the M62 (sound of an ironic wa wa waaa) have always been on about their "history" until they were overtaken on English titles and now it is the number of Euro titles that continue to make them the better team.

To the non-partisan observer (not I) It is all a bit sad really. Rather like looking at some old boiler who obv was attractive once but is now just mutton dressed as lamb. The wardrobe still has the same old clothes in that used to be able to bring an admiring glance (Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand etc) but it's just an old washed up has been who will eventually be propping up the bar convincing herself she still has it and getting the odd drunken shag from the likes of Wayne Rooney.

The funniest thing about the references to uniteds history which have cropped up over the last year, and now the references to 19 etc which are the glory hunting rag's default response to citys title win, is that they have spent 20 years taking the piss out of liverpool fans for living on past glories......unitl they overtook them in the league title numbers, and immediately decided to ignore liverpools cl wins, saying the premier league is harder to win.

Given that they have won what, 12 premier league titles, and 2 champions leagues in the same period, that would appear to be utter bollocks. But they fail to see the irony in referring to their history when they did nothing but ignore Liverpools history until they had caught up.

Now i dont mind rags giving it large to liverpool fans on that count, because im sure liverpool gave it them donwn the years, but i for one dont give a fuck how many trophies they have won in their history. We may never catch them.....it doesnt mean we are inferior in the here and now, and thats what counts to me.

And the final irony is, not a single one of them believes (or is willing to admit) that there is even the tiniest possibility that it could be a while before they win the league again.......even with the warning they have from history of what happened to The last great british footballing dynasty

You can't say that, it's libellous - he wasn't drug when he shagged that granny.

Wonder if he buys Coleen zip up fur boots and old lady cardigans for Xmas to get him in the mood?
