Aguero: City on same level as Barca and Real Madrid

Sergio Aguero has crushed any speculation he may leave Manchester City this summer, stating that he is happy at the club and that the Premier League champions are on a par with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Argentinian forward, who scored the winner in City's 3-2 win over QPR which secured them the title, had been linked with a possible exit from Eastlands with Spanish champions Real reported to be interested in mounting a bid.

His City team-mate Pablo Zabaleta recently said that the club's Argentine trio, which also includes Carlos Tevez, were all happy and Aguero has now confirmed his desire to remain and build on his achievements by ruling out any move.

"I decide my future and if I say I stay, then I stay at Manchester City," Aguero told Argentine radio station Rock&Closs. "I want to continue here and I am happy."

As if to emphasis his commitment to City when asked about the possibility of a move to a club such as Barcelona or Real Madrid in the future, Aguero responded: "City are on the same level as Madrid and Barca, and that's why I want to stay and play in the Champions League here."

It has also been reported in Spain that Aguero's City team-mate David Silva is a target of Real boss Jose Mourinho. Aguero said of his team-mate:" Playing with him is easy. He's a phenomenon."

He's 100% correct. We just won a better league and I think we could beat either of them. Just a matter of playing up to our potential.

There's a whole lot of perfect about this guy. He does the right things on the field. He trains well and speaks well too. You want him on your team. Plus, he's married into footballing royalty. What a dream.

Honestly, just looking at the names on our team sheet, I actually agree with him. I think we'll give them run for their money (see what I did there!) next year.

Lescott said he was the worst trainer in the squad. Agree with anything else, though.

On a good day I will agree with you, but let's not forgot some of the teams that beat us last season, if Barca had turned up that day it would be 10 nil!

We need to work on consistency.

it's all relative. Swansea beat us, Sunderland beat us. We won 6-1 at the swamp, and 5-1 at Spuds.

TBH, I think Real & Barca are somewhat overhyped,

Let's be real-istic here, (see what I did) barca and real are on the next level compared to most of Europe, there trophy cabinet in recent years shows that. Also to say there league is poor is a farce, they had the two finalists in the Europa league. With city we are talking about potential with is undoubtedly there, let's just hope we can draw one of them in the chumps league then we can real-ly gauge where we stand. Obviously we are on a high and want to take on the world and rightly so, onwards and upwards!

Barca were, but they are currently on a level below Real Madrid.

But if barca went and won the league next season and chumps league no one would be surprised. It's a toss of a coin between them and real, suppose it depends on which style you prefer.

Barca are an excellent team who have shown the world where football can go, but imo they do have quite a few weaknesses & rely on Messi, & without him would not be amongst the absolute best. I'm not sure how long Messi can continue to play at that level without some others taking the strain, his performance level is bordering on inhuman.

I recon that's why Mourinho has just signed a new deal at Real; he thinks they can dominate Barca & he wants to go down in history for creating a team better than the world's greatest ever team.

Imo, we can leave the pair of them behind in 3 years.

We have a great squad, and will keep improving. Thats for sure.

However im not confident we'll ever be able to say that we've surpassed Barca or Real Madrid in any huge way. We may get the better of them from time to time, but chances are, we wont play them that often, and unless we completely dominate the champions league for years (who does?) they're always going to be there or thereabouts as a top team.

Plus, a squad can only be so big, hence there will always be enough top quality players, staff and managers to keep the game competetive, and the attraction of history that Barca and Real have, especially on the continent, makes me think that they'll always be around, and will probably always be a more attractive destination than City. At least for the next 10, 20 years.
