Contrasting Reactions Amongst Two Sets Of Fans

I have just read the match thread from the QPR game for the first time.
It's incredible that so many people fired abuse at individual players (Dzeko, Balotelli, Lescott, etc) on an internet message-board but I heard none of this at the actual match!
Nobody can tell me emotions were running higher amongst people watching at home or in the pub than they were in the actual ground so I can't understand why one set of fans is more negative/venomous than another.
I am not claiming that everybody was jolly and positive in the ground when we were 2-1 down but I certainly didn't hear anbody getting on the backs of individual players.

That's usually the case though, apart from one or two people dotted around here and there. You get the odd groan but unless someone makes an absolute twat of themselves, most fans in the ground are supportive, or say nothing, rather than abuse a player. (Mario has tried really hard to change that at times but not quite managed it !)
I usually give players a good slagging on here if they played like shit but I support them when I'm at the game. If you slate them on here, you don't ruin their confidence or the team's.

I suppose when you're watching the title drift away it's difficult to find it in your heart to type, "I think Nasri is having a splendid game"

When I read it I found it funny how emotions changed and from loser's the team became hero's in the space of 4 minutes. Bit like the match really.

But it wasn't any easier at the game mate, that's the point I am making.

Forums have always been more anonymous than 'real life' so you tend to get more extremes.

Ask yourself why you started the Yaya Toure thread and when you have an answer to that, you'll have answered your own question here.

That doesn't make sense.
I slagged Yaya off at the match and I slagged him off on here.
I was consistent.

I reckon you might be onto something.
Its the people who go to the game are not proper fans!
When I was watching on the TV, I went miles more bananas than most of the fans in the stadium, most of them just jumped up and down in the same spot, I ran around like a complete loony for about five minutes, then I sat down and cried for about five minutes. Didn't see any of the so called fans in the stadium crying like a big fat hairy baby!
I didn't see any of the fans in the stadium opening a fuck off big bottle of champagne.
Ha! The proper the proper fans were at home being properly miserable an then properly celebrating and posting shite on the forum at the same time!
Still wish I'd been at the stadium though!

At the end of the day some of our 'fans' are no worse or better than the ones across the road that get slagged off for doing exactly the same type stuff. I tend to not read the match threads too much if I'm not at the game if I can help it. They can be funny but more often than not they just wind me up in the main

I always rant and rave a lot more when I am watching City on the telly than when I am at the game. However, when I am watching us on tv it is always when we are away where our performances on the whole are not as good as they are at the Etihad

What I don't get is how anyone could have even wanted to take their eyes off the match to type anything, let alone a rant. In fairness I have been on this board during matches, but I didn't even look at my computer during the entire match.

what ww fails to mention is the number of people in the ground who gave up and started leaving the ground after 85 mins...
