Manchester City ace David Silva is set to snub interest from Real Madrid and put pen to paper on a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva, who recently helped Spain to a third consecutive major tournament success at Euro 2012, still has two years to run on his current deal but reports suggest he will sign a new five-year contract worth £52million.
The 26-year-old playmaker, who joined City from Valencia in 2010, has declared himself "totally satisfied" at the club after playing a starring role in their Premier League winning campaign last season.
His exploits reportedly caught the eye of Primera Liga giants Real but Silva is adamant he is not thinking of a move.
The Spaniard, who was the top assist scorer in the top-flight last term with 15, expects a new deal to be wrapped up sooner rather than later.
Satisfied
He told the Daily Star: "My home is at City and I am totally satisfied there. My head is not at Real Madrid but at Manchester City.
"I'm grateful for my experience at City and I have improved as a player, in every sense, since I joined them. I didn't know if I was capable of playing like this when I left Valencia.
"I'm on holiday right now, but my agents are negotiating a new deal with City and I think it's likely we close it in a very short time."
Silva expects to see City recruit more big-name signings this summer, with wantaway Arsenal striker Robin van Persie having been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad.
The midfield ace added: "The club are preparing offers for players to improve the squad. The project will be very ambitious."

Great news obviously. I was never really worried about him leaving despite the rumours of Real Madrid being interested.
He seems to be really enjoying his time at City, is pretty much a guaranteed starter each week and has worked his way back into Spain's starting 11. We have plenty of Spanish-speaking players at the club too which I'm sure helps.
I hope the value of the contract isn't that high, purely because the club needs to be moving away from such high contracts if we are to ever break-even. Silva deservedly should be one of the high earners at the club but with Yaya, Tevez, Aguero and Adebayor already rumoured to be on anything from 150-220k a week, we as a club can't afford to keep doing this. Obviously if we can shift Adebayor and RSC this summer, then that will more than free-up the cash to make Silva a high earner.

Never in doubt. I bet he's enjoying the time off at the moment, it's been a very long season.

Love the guy, never causes a fuss and does his talking on the pitch, unusual for a footballer let alone a world class one. He will go down as a city legend in years to come just watch!

presumably there will a spanish style buy out clause in his contract.
£250m would be fair in my opinion...

Silva is part of the 5 crown jewels at City - Hart, Kompany, Ya Ya, Merlin and Aguero. Retaining these 5 as the backbone of our squad is essential.

Aguero has snubbed them too. They keep getting snubbed.
I like this new idea of being snubbers, rather than snubbees.

Nah Ted, we've been "snubbed" at least 456 times this summer already according to the tabloids.

I really like this considering the way they bought players the past years. Marca does all the talking for them, trying to make their targets unhappy at their current clubs, while Real waits to strike.
Fuck them.

Ah but we do our snubbing at the top table.
The others are just wannabe snubbers.

I know he's from Gran Canaria but he played for Valencia who have a culture more akin to Barca. I get the feeling if he's going to go back to a Spanish giant it would more likely be Barca than the [strike]Government[/strike] Real.
