Joey Barton won us the title...

Went to my barbers the other day to have my hair chopped and my barber, a massive rag, put it to me that Joey Barton won us the title.
I said to him, "how do you figure that?"
His exact words were "If that tosser hadn't fucked about attacking people and complaining and just walked off the pitch, the added time at the end of the game would have been nothing, a minute at best and united would have won the title."
An interesting take on things and to a degree he's right.
Perhaps it really was "Thanks Joey" this time. Perhaps its just typical rag logic, looking for excuses elsewhere.
Either way, is an interesting thought.

On the other hand, we would have more ordinary time to play. I.E. the playing time would have been pretty much the same.

I think a change of barbers seems reasonable.
The four minutes that barton stopped the game is the time when we would have scored three goals to open up a four-goal lead. Ask your barber if he can remember another time last season when City scored three in four minutes.

Another insightful rag. I hope you reminded him that they could have won the title by 6 points and had a better goal difference if they bothered to turn up at the derbies.

You could point out that Utd coughed up an 8 point lead with 6 games to play - the biggest choke in Premier League History.

Take him a copy of the history books. All it will show him is that we won it and they didn't. Nothing else matters about last season apart from that. Reigning champions have been relegated in the past.

That's my fave comment on this, might even be ever.
Lol
As the OP said "Thanks Joey"

Cannot be bothered to look up the exact figures but I was more conerned as to why there was only 5 mins!!
If the Barton incident took up the best part of 4 mins and ther was a full use of subs - should it not have been more like 6 or 7?

We might have lost the game if another 2 mins were played.

The Bolton result won us the title, are you all mad?
Wait wait...
The point against Sunderland won us the title, their results against Everton and Wigan, the list goes on and on.
89 points and +64GD won us the title, anything else is in the realm of iffacouldawoulda conjecture.

Yes - what I meant was that at the time I was wondering why it was only 5 - although I did turn to my mate and say "well I guess it might be the same as Gillingham!!"

Only if we scored on OG, they were not going to leave their own half.

I did point that out to him.
To be honest I'm surprised he didn't shave "cunt" into the back of my head the amount of stick I was giving him.
At points he'd go into a silent rage, I'd sit for a few seconds in silence.. then churp up with "so Aguero, what a player eh".
Each jibe I can feel the scissors getting closer and closer to scalping me... All credit to him though, cut my hair like pro. Don't think I would have taken it so well!

I think I mentioned in the match thread (or one of the post match analysis threads) that he didn't give us enough time added on in my opinion.

....Or if QPR made no subs during the game there would have been less added time.... Hughes won us the title!!

Surely the player who apparently told Joey to "try and take one of theirs with you" is the man to credit??

I admire your dedication to the City cause but I do feel it is a tad foolhardy to wind up some bloke who is armed with a razor and/or other sharp instruments. Especially while you are wrapped up in a way that inhibits you movements and could possibly cause delay to your escape.
You sir, area fucling idiot...but a brave and blue one...my respect.

Sir Joseph Barton is a truly wonderful man and has contributed massively to English football, never mind when he was with Manchester City, but I think it is pushing it just a tad to suggest that he won us the title.
I would go for achieving 89 points and a better goal difference than the scum because we beat them twice with a 7.1 aggregate as a much more defining reason.
