Sergio Ramos

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Sergio Ramos

Postby Mikhail Chigorin » Sat Jul 21, 2012 1:54 pm

Now that the dust has settled from the 2012 Euros, I'm left with a really odd, albeit meaningless, thought; namely, how good is Sergio Ramos ??

I can't weigh this character up at all and I find him a complete puzzle. He plays for Real Madrid and Spain so he must bring something to the table, he's played all along the back-four in his career so he must be versatile and, because he's Spanish, his technique and ball control must be, at the very least, adequate.

If newspaper reports are to be believed (which they most probably aren't), Real Madrid are interested in Micah Richards so Ramos, in all probability, will continue for the rest of his career now at centre-back, both for Real Madrid and the national side.

So, once again, just how good is he ?? I'm not sure how competent a tackler he is, how useful in the air he is, how good positionally his awareness is and, I suppose, the acid test would be how he would fare in the Premier League, especially on a cold, rainy, mid-winter's night, away at places like Stoke ??

I honestly can't fathom what he actually does which is so better than a load of other players; is he good, bad, indifferent and is he over-rated or under-appreciated ??

Can anyone advise me ??

Excellent. I think he was outstanding at the euros, he had ronaldo in his pocket for the Portugal game, and was awesome in Real's tittle winning team. Just think he would be impossible to buy, if we could it would possible be the best bit of business of the summer.

The simple answer is that he's basically very good at everything.

He's a great all round defender.

He's looked pretty good to me since he's been young, strong, skilful and he works. He's been improving since. Funny thing is I thought he was around the thirty years mark, he's been around that long but he's only 26

Horrendous positioning. Made to look good mainly because he has been surrounded by superstar players for club and country. He was one of the main reasons why Real couldn't challenge Barca for a while.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I've always thought of Ramos as a chocker. Don't really know why.

I am not having this Ramos has become one of the best fullbacks or centre halfs in the world. As for Barca, who could stop them during that period. Having said all of that Ramos is a red card waiting to happen and some of his behaviour is mental. His assault on Messi, could have finished him, luckily Messi was ok. Great player would love him at City ans at the same time he could be a loon.

And it went in."

Yeah but the word you used was "chocker" and I am not sure putting him behind a tyre to stop it from moving describes him.

Good question. I'd have Lahm as I think he'd make reasonable winger. As a defender though... I'd have fucking Tab Ramos before either.

I won't read a better post than that today unless we sign someone fantastic.

Can't stand the fecker, cunt of a player who, in this league, would have to get dispensation before he showed his game.

He surely will never be a keeper of any merit.

I think this comment sums up my own concerns about him. He's a complete enigma to me - would I want him at City ?? ...I haven't the foggiest idea (mind you, I'd prefer Neven Subotic over anyone else, so come on Bob and get him signed).
