Pre-Season Scheduling

Which genius thought of scheduling our pre-season in a way that now we play Arsenal next on 27th July in Shanghai (no issues there) ... but then play Malaysia Select XI in Kuala Lumpur on 30th July and within 24 hrs play Oldham away on 31st July? Did the Sheikh also buy them a Concorde as otherwise any other plane would take around 15 hours in bringing them back here. That and well the difference of about 12 timezones ...
Then we play Wolfsburg away in Germany on 4th August and less than 24 hours later play Limerick away again on 5th August? Errrm ... Did we not say this last year that the main reason for us losing the Community Shield was the team being knackered from the hectic pre-season??
Or is there some genius design in all this that I am simply not seeing?
And when do our Euro players come back to join the rest? Silva, Nasri, Hart, Lescott, Balo ...

Do you think we will be playing any of the same 11 at Oldham as against Arsenal?
My word there does seem to be an increasing number of trivial threads on here

I am interested in knowing when the Euro players come back, they are no reports whatsoever about them returning anytime soon.

Given that the op is privy to the targets Mancini has been given as part of his new contract, I felt sure he would know who organises the pre-season schedule.

If we don't win the Charity Shield then heads will have to roll starting with Mancini and working down to the tea lady...

They should be back some time this week. I know for a fact Lescott is back on Monday.

There is a "cunning plan" behind all this.

The thing that's been a bit disappointing for me this preseason is the fact that we haven't exploited our position as champions like we could be. I remember reading something by a financial expert (can't find the article just now) that said the title could be worth tens of millions to us just in preseason. Instead of glamour friendlies though we've opted for a low-key preseason, apart from the two games in Asia.
Hopefully it ends up benefitting us on the pitch, I just can't help thinking we've missed a trick on the commercial side.

think we may have trousered quite a bit from the China trip....I don't really care about us trying to milk the cow like that just yet. I think we need to just expand the brand footprint and get our toes into some of those new markets first. There will be plenty of offers in the future for us to play games like City v Real Madrid in Shanghai I'm fairly certain. No rush at this stage IMO

Don't go decapitating the tea lady, we might need her to cover for another injury crisis.
