Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry on road to recovery following abdominal surgery
Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is targeting a swift return to action after undergoing abdominal surgery.
The 31-year-old, who underwent a hernia operation in Munich two weeks ago having being ruled out of the England squad for the Euro 2012 finals, is on the mend and raring to go once again.

He told the club's website: "Early signs are really good. The scars have healed really well, but we will see how I feel when I start playing again. Fingers crossed it will all have healed up.
"I think the worst of it is over now. There will be a two-week healing process, and I have started my rehab to try to get fit and catch up with the rest of the lads.
"I don't really want to put a timescale on it, but hopefully I will be ready for the main games starting.
"At the minute, my mind is just set on being fit and being out there 100 per cent and try and feature in as many games as possible this season."
AC Milan re-ignite interest in Tevez as Italian giants push Man City for talks
AC Milan are pushing for talks with Manchester City over a deal for striker Carlos Tevez.
The Serie A side wanted the 28-year-old in January and have maintained an interest in the Argentine and his team-mate Edin Dzeko.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, have offered around £6.5m for City left back Aleksandar Kolarov, 26.Sportsmail Reporter
Kolarov poised for Man City exit
Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov is closing in on a return to Serie A as Inter Milan look to finalise a £6.2m deal for the left-back.
Kolarov, the Serbia international, has been the subject of much speculation in recent months after seeing his first-team place at the Etihad Stadium taken by Gael Clichy.
Juventus, the Serie A champions, have also been credited with holding an interest in the 26-year-old, but Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims Inter have won the race to secure his signature.
City boss Roberto Mancini signalled his intention to keep hold of Kolarov earlier this summer, but Inter are believed to be in advanced negotiations with City over the transfer of the defender. Talkshite
ON THIS DAY - OFFICIAL CLUB BOLLOX
Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Monday 25th July 1977
Mike Channon signed for a club record £300,000 from Southampton. The England striker, famed for his famous arm-windmill goal celebrations was seen as the missing part of Tony Book’s jigsaw with the Blues missing out on the league title by one point a couple of months earlier.

Though his first season is not a disaster, Channon never seems to settle in Manchester and while his return of 12 goals from 33 starts puts him on par with Dennis Tueart, the team struggled in his second campaign and Channon’s confidence ebbed away. A few games into the 1978/79 season saw Channon return to his beloved Southampton in a cut-price deal. http://www.mcfc.co.uk
