Mancini targeting youth

See, these kind of potential additions excite me...

Roberto Mancini could make as many as five additions to his Manchester City squad, but will be carrying out his summer transfer business with one eye on the future.

The Blues boss has regularly stated his desire to bring fresh faces into the Etihad Stadium, with the Premier League champions aware that they cannot afford to stand still.

Continuous improvement is the target for City, and that means making minor adjustments to a playing staff that is already the envy of many of their domestic and European rivals.

Mancini concedes that there is no need for sweeping change, with performances in the last couple of years allowing City to get their hands on major silverware.

The Italian tactician is also aware of the need to build a side geared towards sustained success, with City hoping to bring in the stars of today and tomorrow

Improve

"We are a young team because we have played together for only two years," Mancini told Sky Sports News HD.

"We won after 50 years. We need to work harder than last year and we need to buy the players that will help the team to improve.

"We don't need big changes. We don't need 10 players like maybe two or three years ago.

"But we need three or four or five players and in these five players will be young guys for the future because it is important to put young players in the squad and make them as good as the players that we have."

It basically means apart from one big name, two at most i'd guess, we're looking to invest in players with potential. I find that much more exciting personally. I don't want loads of RVP types - older players looking for one big last payday. I'd rather find the next RVP instead. As discussed on here, I like that Biton fellow we have on trial - i'd snap him up in a heartbeat.

Then possibly a few more hidden gems from somewhere else? There are players out there brimming with potential that are unknowns still. That Omar guy who played for UAE the other day for example - he was excellent. Young, talented and hard working. Definitely no major risk with these kinds, and its exciting.

We should be looking to grab a few of these. Young players who have ability to not look out of place if they stand in for someone, but also have lots of room for improvement. These are the kind that don't mind sitting on the bench too, so its no bad thing.

Yeah Van Persie is nailed on I can sense it.

We dont need much else. Just get the youth scene right with some quality there.

I don't think Young is all that talented. Plus he dives a lot . . ..
