Who is the last one we actually signed? Yasser Hussein?
Since then we've had about 10 from Thailand, 10 from Italy and 10 from the Middle East and none of them ever seem to make the grade. I'm sick of wasting my time reading up on them all.
EDIT: Was Gai Assulin once on trial? That worked out well.
Not
I'm guessing we have a lot of trialists at any one time but unless they have a youtube video of said player spraying it 8 yards to another player or managing to hit a post all dubbed over a dodgy euro dance soundtrack we never hear or see much of them.
IMHO they are generally a bit shit ,if your still tagging trials at 20-21 and not been picked up by a top club by then i dont hold much hope in them.
The other route is to play in the Olympics against a load of half arsed pros who just want to get back to their clubs and then bag a trial.

Who is the last player to sign following a trial and turn out to be a bit ace? Ali B? Didn't he have a trial? How about for other clubs?
Is our trial-to-contract turnover the same as everywhere else?

Ali B had a trial at Sunderland not with us, we just heard about it and signed him...

Harry Redknapp had a trial and passed it with flying colours.

Oh yeah that's right. I had it in my head that we had intercepted him on his way to Sunderland and that KK had worked his magic from there. I remember being at Hillsborough just after he signed. We smashed them 6-2, The Chop bagged a hat-trick and Ali was sublime.
I still reckon Berkovic was a better player on balance though.

Eyal was probably a better all round player, but Ali B is he most gifted player I've ever seen in a City shirt. And I include David Silva in that.

Ali B, at his peak, must have been a something. I only saw snippets of him during that period on TV, but I know he was rated as one of the best in Europe by those who played against him. Both Eyal & Ali B, if they came through as young kids at City today, would develop workrate to add to their skill, & be even better than they were imo. Both, with that mentality, could play in today's team easily.

If both Omar & Biton pass the 'trial', I doubt we will get work permits for both. We may have to retain one & try again next year with the other. Unless the politicians decide that giving either an Arab or Isaeli a permit & not the other could be controversial of course, then we may get neither, or both.

Very good! As was Maurizio Gaudino, I believe, possibly in both senses of the word.
