Portsmouth

I know a lot won't give a shit, and they aren't a club I've ever liked, but how sad to see that they are now close to liquidation. No players and Chainrai has pulled out of buying the club. They appear royally fucked.
Remember 'Arry leaving and saying he'd done them a favour cos in effect they had got a transfer fee for him?

I wonder if we'll see a similar meltdown from Tottenham ... if it's not accepted as truth already ... I think that would cement harry's reputation for leaving all clubs he stops at in tatters.

It's a not much of a town and not a great football club but the supporters are loyal and local. Hope they survive. There but for the grace of God - or at least Dickov, Thaksin, and the Sheikh ...

What's that one blue haired twat going to do now? Close to 60 and has dedicated whole his life to club including naming himself John Portsmouth Football Club Smith (John and Smith could be Harry and Jones).
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

They should have just gone into liquidation in the summer, sounds cruel but not only did they just delay the inevitable but lost the chance to start a fresh this season in a lower league.

If they go to the wall now, they will have to wait another 11 months before any sort of Pompy kicks a ball in a league.

11 months without a club to support could kill a fan base.

I find it sad to see any club go to the wall (even if it happenend to the swamp-dwellers, mind they have their phoenix club set up well in advance) its the fans that it hits the most. The causers of such a fall usually don't care and walk away reletively unaffected by it all.

Mixed feelings on this, all the local businesses that are going to get a pennie to the pound of what their owed (or nothing at all if they go to the wall). Its a disgrace that a football club could be allowed to be run like this.

Part of me hopes they survive as a fan trust in league one but some of me thinks that they should pay the price, sacrifice their history, and start from scratch.

They will be playing Alty very soon under the banner of FC Portsmouth.

Sad state of affairs to see the team they put out last night.
