"Van Persie and Wayne Rooney could operate as a split strike-force, with either of them capable of leading the line or playing as a secondary striker.
With Shinji Kagawa and a fully fit Tom Cleverley and Antonio Valencia, attacking-wise they look more potent than any team in the league."
really!?

I'd go along with that to a point, its a shame they have no midfield and no defence to play behind it though!

More potent than Aguero, Tevez, Yaya, Silva, Nasri??? Not to mention Balo, Dzeko, Milner and AJ there too.
I'd prefer to have ours, but another winger would still be good.

So, Lawro, how many times have Cleverly and Kagawa played together to give us this great insight that they are the greatest attacking option in the league?
Just out of interest, who is Lawrenson picking to win the league; United perchance?

At least Merson went crazy when Aguero scored. I bet Lawro nearly jumped off a bridge when Sergio popped up

I was more making the sarcastic point about their crappy midfield and lack of cover in defence. As for Rooney/RVP or Tevez/Aguero, we'll have to wait and see

Merson showed that he loves football more than he hates us. I respected that. It's not easy given the position he's painted himself into.
I would say that the Rags have strengthened dramatically this summer. Bacon's last madcap attempt to wrestle the throne from us before he kicks off.
if we beat him this season he'll die a broken man. I can't wait for this shit to start.
Come on CITY!

Completely agree DoomMerchant! Come on City, do that bacon face in once and for all!!!
Rags have strengthened, but Tevez back and on the ball is like signing a world class striker again!

Garth Crooks has rivalled Lawro in levels of footballing insanity in the last 12 months. The GB warm game was unreal.

I suspect it is as much or more to do with over taking the Scouse and reaching 20? Or at least that will be his "angle" on it should they achieve it.

City will never win anything.
City won't win the Cup.
City won't win the league.
City won't be able to defend it.
I hope they predict City won't win the Champions league.

rooney, RVP, Wellbeck
Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli
very difficult to put a wedge between the first 2, but mario gives us the edge - add to that we've also go Dzeko and its pretty clear lawro is talking bollocks

IF, RVP stays fit & IF he performs at the same level as last season, then he can be compared to our strikers.
If he performs as he did in the rest of his career or as he did for Holland at the Euros however, he is not even close.

We should get used to this because we will hear things like this all season. After the 6-1 we heard all the rest of the season they had a wake up call, now we will hear that Aguerro's goal made them bigger and stronger.
As i said before, With those fuckers in the middle, they will crush and burn.
