How on earth it took so long to get a deal sorted which suits every party concerned?!?!
City get rid of striker who isn't anymore in manager's plans.
Spurs get a proven Prem quality striker.
Ade gets to play (& be the main man in the team too).

I wonder if the bookies are taking bets on what his goal celebration will be like when he scores against us. That's the interesting question, not whether he's gonna score or not

I'm glad he has gone. Let's just hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

Glad he's gone, Spurs fans will now see that when he signs for a club the commitment and effort goes out the window.

Conflicting reports, some say we are paying 90k of his wages and others say we are not. I would be pissed if we sell him for 5mil and then pay 90k of his wages per week.

We wont be paying a penny of his wages if he's signed for another club - we have very probably agreed to give him a large amount of money in what is usually called a loyalty payment (where the club has instigated the move rather than the player putting in a written transfer request).

I doubt we are allowed to pay wages to a player fully employed by another club are we ? as you say, it's probably a huge payoff.

And those who were questioning why he hadn't gone ages ago, now have your answer; he has signed for the club which wanted him, got loadsamoney in his pocket, is a first choice striker & has got the best deal he thinks he can get at this time. If AC Milan or Juve had been tempted, you can bet your arse he would be going there instead but nothing else materialised so he's gone to Spurs.

He has played it perfectly.

He's had us over big style.

Spurs have got a bargain for 5 million quid,5 million fucking quid for a striker that scored 17 goals in the league,Wolves want 15 for Fletcher who is shit.

From BBC.

"It is understood Spurs refused to break their strict wage structure to accommodate Adebayor. But with the player refusing to accept a big pay-cut, the Premier League champions were forced to accept having to continue to pay the player the difference between his new wage of around £80,000 and his earnings at City in order to complete the deal."

I hope that's not true.

If that were true, why'd we let him go on the cheap?

Exactly. If we've sold a potential 'rival' someone who is, like it or not, a proven goalscorer, for 5 million yet still subsidise his wages for him to go, then I find that hard to take. Glad to have him out of the club like everyone else but it seems he will still be costing us money for a few years yet if that's true!
