While it would be an unreal signing, I'm very sceptical after doing a twitter search on the rumour.

Only reason I mention it, is because of the 2 agent twitter accounts I follow, they've been spot on about RVP, Rodwell, Sinclair, Dawson, Adebayor, Joe Allen deals in the summer all before the media. Clearly a way to go yet with medical and wages to be done, but the fee has been agreed. Would guess £25-30m. Class player

I think we'll have to wait until @agent_153's mum wakes him up for school before we find out how the negotiations are going.

If i've got it wrong then i'll apologise in due course but I posted this info as I have no reason to doubt the credibility of the 2 agents I follow on twitter. They have got alot of transfers correct before the media. The link is the twitter name in the OP. You can see his tweets about Cavani and City during the day. I believe it's true.

the freed up capital from adebayor's wages may grease the wheels a bit and set things in motion. I wouldn't be surprised by any signing we make now, as I think Mancini will be pushing hard on the negotiation team to get the men he wants.
Signing Cavani would also necessitate the departure of Dzeko, and probably confirm the departure of AJ as well, with Cavani capable of playing a wider position too. Sinclair would seem to be Cavani's understudy in that case.
Anyway, a lot of rumours will go around now, as imo wages were the only thing stopping us from bringing in more guys. If we see RSC go as well I'd expect more players in as well.

no idea why we would make this...5 strikers? sure he's a talent and sergio may be out for a month-6 weeks but he will
be back and then what? if we can't rely on Tevez and Mario (and Dzeko) to carry the load while sergio is out, why the
fuck are they in the squad?

Football Agent @agent_153
I have MASSIVE news for all English football fans. As with the breaking of RVP deal, I need 500 retweets on this tweet for me to release it

Just to put into some kind of words what the agent_153 has tweeted..
"Man City have had a bid for cavani accepted, spurs were also bidding but simply couldn't out bid man city and Cavani preferred CL football anyway. MCFC negotiators were sent to sign the player, no matter what the cost was. It was a perfect situation for Napoli. Napoli officials are astounded as to how short negotiations were.
MCFC was the perfect buyer. They simply gave Napoli what they wanted. The fee is undisclosed but MCFC definitely met Napoli's vaulation."

@1rebs who is freelance for Sky and a rag season ticket holder, according to her twitter account, reckoned it was bull last night. Her latest from speaking to 'sources' in Italy is that this has been leaked/made up by agent/club to get Chelsea to make a move.
Since she actually says what her job is rather than claiming to be an agent, I'd be more likely to believe her. Plus it seems more plausible than us desperately paying whatever Napoli want on the same day Aguero has tweeted that physio starts today, hence it's not a long term injury.

And now this from bbc bollox page....
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo will make a £35m move for Napoli's Uruguay international striker Edinson Cavani, 25.

I can't believe that people still believe agent stuff spouted on Twitter as gospell ... unbelievable stuff really. Next January the OED are removing the word 'gulible' from their dictionaries as well, their head honcho said it in a tweet so it must be true.

Last night his odds were cut on skybet to 1/3. This morning they have been cut again at 1/4.
