Did Liverpool beat us ?

If I go on the 'Newsnow' page for City, every other story seems to be about how fantastic Liverpool were, & how each individual player is the reincarnation of George Best.

I could have sworn that we drew away from home after plying a bit iffy, & that we conceded two goals from set pieces & had very few other shots to save, yet it appears we were actually hammered by the second coming of Brazil 1970.

Was I dreaming ? Did we actually lose this game ?

I've still got the celebrations they had from last year permanently etched in my mind. I just couldn't believe the sheer excitement they got from beating us 1-1.

How timeshave changed eh, little old City!

said the same thing to my mate last year, as I was sat watching pool vs. city in a pub with him and half his pool supporters group (that was a mistake) the cheers at the final whistle were deafening ... as it quieted down I simply asked, is getting a draw at Anfield against City such an amazing accomplishment for liverpool now? hmm. interesting.

blank stares and total silence. fucking twats.

edit: i also like all of the articles about how liverpool 'allowed us' to come away with some points, none mentioning how they should not have had the fk for suarez to score from in the first place. interesting.

no but they played a lot better than their first 2 games, and it was probably a big relief to them that they did,nt get battered, cos they looked very average v wba, and hearts.having said that if we had played 90 minutes with yaya further forward and a normal back four i think we would have won comfy.

It's the price of being champions - get used to it.

It is now their cup final in the same way as when they have played against the Rags for the last 20 odd years.
They have a chance in a one off game of achieving a "victory" but will be nowhere near winning the League.
Cup Team!!!!!

As I was telling the scouser at work all last season, they can raise their game for the big teams, but not against the rest of the league.

There's only one thing guaranteed to wind him up more than suggesting they're not a big team. And I save that for when I want to send him over the edge.

To me it seemed with some of the comments made on here it sounded as though they did. Things like we need a new squad and strengthening here and there and everywhere.Leatherface has fucked us up.

There will be many lies told about Liverpool this year, particularly now they've got a media savvy "Young British Manager ©" (he built a 150 page dossier don't you know!).

The one coming out of the weekends game is that they are "closing the gap" on us. Here are our three league results at Anfield under Bob:

11.04.2011 - Liverpool 3-0 City - Humiliated.
27.11.2011 - Liverpool 1-1 City - Joe Hart MOTM.
26.08.2012 - Liverpool 2-2 City - Dominated them for large periods, were probably just shaded over 90 mins.

Anyone paying attention would say Sunday's Liverpool team is further away from us than the Dalglish teams that at times battered us. But that doesn't fit the script of emerging football philophers and "attacking football with tactical discipline."

I've also noticed that the English media, once so naively enamored with John Henry's baseball CV, now don't seem to care a jot about the Red Sox' inexorable decline, culminating in a sub-.500 record and last week's unprecedented firesale.

The emperor has no clothes. Nor is he an emperor.

That, like the Arsenal game last season, was the key match for us. After that we went on the semi final and delivered. After that loss, we became great, win over win, goals over goals (of course, it was one game we lost, but at Everton, but there we have the curse).

In big games, Scouse at home are pretty decent. If we look at Scum, they don't get points there. Fact.

I think the City team that finished last season would have put 4 past that Liverpool side, they were less effective at both ends than Dalglish's side. We were well below our best unfotunately & haven't got out of 1st gear yet but even so, we didn't lose & as you say, the rags often do.

Actually that's the thing, ignoring specifics of our opponents. The rags have made their name by grinding out results even when they're playing like shit. They've won a lot, might not be a bad result after all.

A point at Anfield is a good point at anytime of the season, but especially as we've not started playing yet.
Although, as a previous post mentions, red scouse weren't all that. For all the media hype, they scored from two set pieces and barely troubled us otherwise. I'm not worried about them. I'm more worried about Stoke and blue scouse away.

Slightly off topic but the crap that Liverpool fans are spouting about Allen, Lucas, Sahin today is beyond belief.

Apparently been stating as fact that all the above players compose the best midfield in the league...

Staggering really what those Scousers think.

The whole wanking over Lucas last season was fucking joke anyway. Guy is below average midfielder but just because he happens to play for currently shit Liverpool side he is being hyped because they got no one better. I remember even some people here praising him while back. Someone asked me whether "I had even seen Liverpool recently" (as if you could avoid seeing them if you tried). Fucking hell, guy is average, don't believe everything Scouse/rag loving tabloids will tell you.

I do like Allen though.

Which made me laugh anyone that follows baseball knows that was Epstein built the Sox's into a championship team. Now I hope he can do that with my Cubs.

Just read an article that blames Epstein for all the problems they are having now, like when you sign a paraguayan for £18M and £140,000/week and no-one wants to take him off your hands, preventing the club from making further purchases.

In saying that, it is the policy of every administration since Caesar to blame the problems they are dealing with now on the previous administration. The other day Julia Gillard(Australian PM) blamed the opposition for the cost of refugee relocations during the last 12 months, it was their policy and therefore, their fault. Her government has been in charge now for 6 years, 6 years...cost incurred in the last 12 months, and she is blaming a government that hasn't been in power since late 2006. YCMIU.
