Funny that as he rarely got booked in England. Maybe that says more about the european referees that Nige himself.

Edit: rarely red carded, so maybe not so much a surprise. He wasnt that dirty though.

Depending on your definition of 'dirty', I disagree completely. Any numpty can jump in looking to do some damage. I play football myself (only semi-seriously, obviously) and at 6'2" and knocking on 16 stone I could do some serious harm. But I don't because it's a cuntish thing to do. I'd be fucked off if someone broke my leg in a 7-a-side game so imagine if football is your livelihood and some dickhead ends your career.

There's a difference between tough tackling and being a dirty twat. Lee Cattermole and Vinny Jones are two examples of players who often crossed the line in my opinion. Mauricio Taricco was a bit of a nasty bastard too. NDJ never crossed the line at City as far as I could tell.

The tackle he did on the Aussie or Yank, not sure who it was but he was playing for Holland and broke the lads leg. That was a bad tackle.

The Kung fu kick on Alonso, which was funny and we all had a laugh and a joke about it, was dirty. If it was on Aguero everyone would be crying about it.

You don't have to be big built to be dirty. 16 stone or 8 stone you can still break a leg.

Roy Keane was a hard player. As hard as they came at the time. But he was also a dirty fuck when he wanted to be. You can be both.

Most of de Jong's yellows were positional fouls rather than bad ones. He went in hard, very hard but he always went for the ball and he was fair. I never saw him do anyone, hence I wouldn't call him dirty. I'd actually put him down as the cleanest really hard tackler I've seen.

Alonso was a mis-timing freak, no way was it deliberate.

True, but I didn't really say the opposite.

However, if you've played - and I'm sure you have - then you'll know that a malicious and mistimed challenge from a big 'un is much more painful and dangerous than one from a little 'un. It's one of the basic laws of physics. An 8-stone fella is a lot quicker than I am, but not 100% quicker.

I agree with this. They were definitely doing a job on Spain, which made it even more shameful that Van Marwijk dropped NDJ after the Ben Arfa incident.

That was a bad, reckless tackle, wheras the one on Ben Arfa was nothing, just unlucky.

I don't believe Nige deliberately stamped on Alonso, he's too smart for that. It was one of those things when you're looking at the ball & don't see the opponent until too late & it comes out looking horrendous. If Nige wanted to 'do' somebody, to help the team, he'd 'accidentally' tread on their ankle, not Karate kick them in the chest, in front of the ref.

He's a very intelligent bloke & would know he's gone if the ref sees it.

It was only a bump anyway, made to look like gbh by Alonso who saw the opportunity to get Nige red carded.

If Nige really did want to Karate kick Alonso in the chest, he wouldn't be getting up afterwards, he'd be straight to hospital.

When have we ever seen him do anything like that at City ? It's far too obvious & not the work of a stealthy character like Nige.
