According to the press association and the guardian. Side show Cecil says this is his last season at Everton! Make it happen City!

The Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini claims he could leave the club in January, despite being under contract for the next four years.

The Belgium international has been the driving force behind Everton's strong start to the new league season and scored the only goal in the victory against Manchester United in their opening fixture.

The 24-year-old appeared committed to David Moyes' plans after penning a new contract through to 2016 as recently as November but in an interview with a Belgian newspaper published today Fellaini said he was now looking for a way out of Goodison Park.

"I am just starting my fifth season at Everton. This will be one of my last," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "I have seen everything. In January or at the end of the season I will turn to another club or championship."

Fellaini joined Everton in a £15m move from Standard Liège in 2008 and has scored 22 goals in 130 appearances for the club.

This is the point. People say play him next to Yaya because he's a 'defensive midfielder'. Is he fuck. He gets stats for 'interceptions' because he heads the ball clear or picks up loose balls when Everton's workhorses force the oppo into mistakes. He's not a Barry or a DeJong or a Garcia, he's more someone who would play instead of Yaya, not alongside him, or even play in place of Silva or Nasri.

The idea of him as a holding midfield player is bollocks.

Another case of one good game (against the filth - thank you) and the pound signs start spinning in his agent's eyes.

Me neither. I know plenty of Everton fans who say he's hit and miss. And more often miss.
Check out his performance against the Baggies the other week

Bit cheeky to come out with a comment like that though, if true of course. I wonder if Gollum will now excude him like he did with Lescott?

Good player at a club like Everton, a stand out player to be fair to him. However I really don't think he has enough to make an impact at the highest level.

He's one of those that looks good at a kid table club, but too much of a headless chicken for me. I don't see him being so brilliant with the ball that he could play free here, or being disciplined enough to anchor our midfield.

He'd suit united to a tee tho as he's a 3rd of the age if half their midfield.

Weird one this after he has not long since signed a new contract with them. Will be a big loss for everton, with Cahill and Rodwell also gone. I like him though and think he has the quality to improve most squads. I don't think we need him but he wouldn't look out of place here. Maybe a swap with gaz baz next summer

He has denied the claims he wants to leave Everton.

And yet there are apparently quotes from an interview, clearly stating the opposite.

Either someone has completely made up the interview, or he is a telling lies.

It's ok for some smalltime geezers to get away with fabricating quotes but it's not something any serious publication can do & remain credible.

I don't know the status of the paper in question.

True dat. Thing is lately I've noticed some of the 'serious' papers merely requoting the shite other lesser papers have printed/made up .... The press regulating themselves is/was a good idea but now that good idea appears hollower by the week .... the cents

"I was very surprised to read in some newspapers that I will leave Everton very soon and perhaps next January," wrote Fellaini in a statement published on his Facebook page.

This is a tricky one. I think it will all depend of what will happen with Yaya and Javi Garcia. The first one if he really wants to go and the second one if he will adapt to the premiership.

Imho, Fellaini is the best back-up signing for de Rossi, but i think the rags might have a word in this with their spastic midfield.

Hmm. He continues: 'So with Everton, I am ready to play all the season and to reach our goals of this season.'

So the quotes were true then, & he's off at the end of the season, or possibly in January.

Ha ha, thats some impressive leap Ted from the quoted sentence to your summing up of it ... Bollox Towers will be offering you a job shortly ...
