No chance for Richards getting his england place back

No chance for Richards getting his england place back

Postby Wonderwall » Tue Sep 11, 2012 7:00 am

I have just seen that when roy hodgson was questioned about whether peter crouch came into his thoughts for recall. He said no because he refused to go on standby for euro 2012, crouch will not even be considered. Richards is in the same boat, i can understand you have to show them who is boss but to the detriment of the team can be a stupid move. What nob he is.

Well at least he won't get injured in some pointless friendly match put on to pay for Wembley stadium.

To be honest (in my humble opinion of course) he won't even get back in our team at right back with Zaba playing the way he is and having signed Mike

Plans to convert to CB??

Micah was on top form last season, he played out of his skin until injury ruled him out.If he puts in the kind of performances like he was he can't be overlooked.

Agree with this, when fit he is a powerhouse that is much needed against certain opponents

Hodgson was never going to play him anyways.

He may as well put his head down and focus on his club career for the next while.

He has some serious competition at the very least for right back, I think he might be slated for part of the back 3 in the 3-5-2 system in place of Kolo, but with Nastasic now we have 4 centrehalves and richards for 3 spots.

God we've got a great squad.

I thought Richards was a slightly different case. His argument for not going on standby was that the was a good chance he wouldn't be called up and it would put his Olympic place at risk. If it wasn't for the Olympics he would have gone on standby.

Apart from it being a completely different set of circumstances ie: he didn't refuse to play/go on standby

I agree that Micah is most definitely a powerhouse when fit, just think it would be harsh on Pablo after the performances he has put in back end if last season/ start of this

Overall Mad Pablo is playing better right now than Micah ever has. Micah was brilliant last season....no question about that. It's just that I think Zabaleta is actually best right back in the world right now. Honestly. I wouldn't have anyone else than him. He can defend, reads the game well, can bomb forward and puts in decent crosses without compromising his defensive duties.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Woah, easy now. Dani Alves is the worlds best, I'm not saying Zabba isn't a defensive boss but there are quite a number better than him.

Richards on top form ousts him for one. Maicon on top form again better...

In terms of work rate and professionalism though, he has to be the best RB... oh wait there's Javier Zanetti... this is hard..

Let's just say Zabba is great eh!

got a feeling mancini might use him as the third CB (Richards, KOMP, Lescott) when he deploys this wingback plan of his

I think it'll be a variation of;

Nastic Komp Zabba

or

Lescott Komp Nastic

and in the early rounds of the domestic cups,

Nastic Kompany Kolo.

I can't see Richards being used as anything less than a wingback in 3 at the back formation, he is too good at bombing down the flank!

Him and Maicon could really shine in this new formation (if we can master it)

It's all a matter of opinion as some people rather diferent styles of play.Although i really like Zabba he works so hard for the team i would have Micah in the team ahead of him everytime.I'm sure i have said on here before but i felt he was the outstanding right back in the league last season.Kyle Walker pfft

The only criticism of using richards as a wing back is he bombs forward with pace and power that scares the bejeezes out of left backs, but he trotts back like he is in a warmdown session. I am all for letting him get his breath back but do it when your back in position.

Last season Bob rotated the full-backs quite often, especially for the champions league games.

Although i disagree with this - i think a back four doesn't really need much rotating - i think Mancini will disregard my tactical advice and do this again. So Micah will get a chance, he's very much still in the plans for me and will have a bigger part to play than being a back up to Zab.

As for England - i've not understood 90% of the selection choices during the last 10 years so it's no surprise to see Micah being left out and to be honest, i've stopped caring now. City all the way.
