Should It Have Been A Penalty?

Sergio is clearly fouled inside the box, can't get a decent shot away as he was still off balance. The ref played the advantage but was there any advantage gained?

So, should it have been a penalty?

Well, first of all, Aguero isn't a diver.

The second one, well that is a little odd. If you watch back, Mike Dean has a gesture like he is giving advantage, that means he knew it was a penalty, but why the hell didn't he came back and point the spot?

That's the point, why didn't he give it. I thought that he gave us nothing all the way through, that just went to cement my view of his/their officiating.

He seemed to be an anti-homer today.

It shows there's no justice. For playing fair and trying to keep on his feet, he lost out. If it was either of those cheating bastards, Welbeck or Valencia, there would have been more twists and points than a Tom Daley dive, and the kick would have been awarded.
If it had been outside the area, it would have been a cert free kick, stonewall.

It's a bit hard to have some explanation when you see what happens when filth are playing. Dean is a good ref, but i don't know what really happend.

I said earlier that we will win the league, now i am not that sure (now we might have the excuse that we are poor and we can't focus that much of refs, but 6 points at Stoke and today, instead of 2 and we should had been top and the posts here would had been a lot different).

We don't deserve to be top of the league but yes it was a nailed on pen & what is the point of players being honest if it costs us the game, which it did ?

Well, if we talk about "romance" we will (are) be Loved and respected champions. Winning the title in the most pure honest way, like the way we did last year. (But i agree with you).

In 98, in Germany, Kaiserlautern won the league after a year earlier they promoted. In april they had a decisive game at Rostok, with Hansa (at that time they were facing Bayern for the title). It was the 88 minute, the score was 2-2 and at that moment, Bayern went top, when Ballack passed to the Kaiserslautern poacher, Olaf Masrchal, who was brought down by a defender inside the box (it was a Dive clear as day) and the ref pointed the spot.
The Kaiserlautern player then went to the ref and said he dived, that like i said, it was the 88 minute in a decisive title game when the score was 2-2. The ref changed his decision and then the game ended 2-2. There was a rumor that after the game, Otto Rehhagel (Kaiserslautern manager at that time) left Marchall without two teeths.
Then Lautern had a comeback and won the title in the last fixture and brought joy to a whole country.

ironically, before the match the salty dog who coaches my son, and was a youth player at Wednesday -- he's pushing 70 now -- said, with regard to the Scum's pen earlier today, "they taught us when we were kids that you 'didn't get a trophy for staying on your feet, so fall down if you've been fouled.'"

goddam english.

cheers

Its funny, because in the first half a City player made a foul and Dean put his whistle to his lips before allowing the play to continue in Arsenal's favour. He then put his whistle to his lips AGAIN probably 5-10 seconds later as a City player nearly won the ball back. Another 5 seconds passed with Arsenal still having the ball and AGAIN he put his whistle to his lips thinking that the Arsenal player was going to lose it.

I remember saying to my brother at the time "How long is Dean going to play advantage for before it being a new phase of play?"

If he goes off that then its a penalty all day long.

Just shows that it doesn't pay if you stay on your feet. It's no advantage if you have been knocked off your balance and forced into a shittier angle.

Refs should have the bollocks to award them even if you don't go down otherwise we will only see the theatrics week on week and promote diving.

I'm not gonna get at Aguero for this, it's poor reffing

No we can't ask him to turn into a dick. It's just not him. He did get up and scream at the cunt ref though which I like.

Can blame him for not scoring after kompany's overhead though. That was shocking. Aguero out.

I seem to remember a certain Dippers player getting a penalty for intent. This is how the laws work, and how they keep control of the game.

By now, refs already know Aguero and they are well aware that he isn't a diver. Never was and never will, so when he will ask a penalty, it probably is. The same can''t go with Suarez or shrek. The biggest divers this game ever saw & still they receive more penalties than us.

I am curios, what did Bobby had to say about this? The same as Stoke "iz basketball, iz impossible" or he didn't touch the subject?
